...You guys need to understand. not EVERY Petco or Petsmart is bad... Just because they're chains doesn't mean anything. Yes some are HORRIBLE, and i will admit our Petco is bad, BUT still not as bad as the two local owned shops. Our Petsmart actually had a reptile keeper that BRED and KEPT Burmese and Balls, though she quit a while back our new one is a reptile owner as well. the truth behind this is we look at reptiles with a different POV then what most people do. What we see as bad is "okay" to them, but they also have to make money off there sales. (which they do by a long shot)

Why a little rant? I can't stand coming across post were people say ALL chain stores are bad. There are bad, and there are good ones. But that is the way life will always be...

To Petco having morphs. It's cool..Over priced as it would be, but cool. I personally hope they go to good homes though.. Every snake deserves a good home.

Not all stores are the same or the people
Many Many years ago PETCO was very bad. Then things changed. The one I go to down do in my aream the staff present and past are the best. The know their stuff, they take care if the stock. They just do not push the sale to make sales. Most are young men and women but I have seen a big change in this store since 2005. I started going back to them in 2005 or so and what a big difference. I live in the Tumwater/Olympia area and I would stay most know what they are talking about and give you good advice where or not they make the sale.

It is not the people working at these particular stores that make them bad....it is the policies of the company that make them bad. Many PetSmart's and PetCo's have caring, knowledgable staff....but the fact that the company would let a ball python starve to death before offering it live prey, IMO, makes them bad...ALL of them.

I believe PetCo sells live feeders, actually.

There's a decent PetCo in Omaha, and one in Bellevue that's not so great (though not completely horrid on all levels). Each individual store should be treated like a separate entity.

I agree the BIG Can stores ledership are the problem, the petco and petsmarts. But the one I go to the STAFF is OUTSTANDING the store is CLEAN and the pets and well maintin and cages are clean and they care for and being feed but like everyone they have rules from the big bosses, so they have limets, but what I can see as just a outsider they see to work well together and I think this is what has made this store turn around. Plus some very outstanding people who relley care about what they do.:)

I've bought a snake from Petland and was decently impressed. Aquarium was behind a glass wall so people couldn't really disturb the snake, it had a hide, water, was in really good shape, tank was clean etc. I know I paid to much for him, but they seemed to know their animals. They also made me sign a form stating I would return the animal to them as opposed to abandoning it.
