Ouch. Thats a tad uncalled for... but at least you said not all

ANYWAY Ive been taking care of and rescuing all kinds of animals since i was able and I take their care very seriously and am 18 years old. I own four dogs(all rescue/special needs"), eight cats, a ferret(rescue), two sugar gliders(rescues), a rat, many snakes, two leopard geckos, and two monitors.

However since you brought it up, I think it is a bit disrespectful to categorize all teens together here, as there are many on this forum that are responsible keepers, and there are plenty of adults that are worse than teenagers, that have a lot on their plate as well, in fact .. I don't know about you, but a lot of adults have much more on their plates than a teenager.
The normal teenager you are describing also wouldn't be taking their time out to come to this forum.

And what statistic did you find that most teens have problems feeding and walking their dogs? What are you talking about? What about the adults that get a dog and then post it on craigslist 3 months later because "it's too much to take care of"? Most teens I know have no problem taking care of their pets ..........

Why are you even wasting your time addressing this? This thread had no ill purpose. You are "having your opinion" to sour a thread, and had nothing to do with your opinion on young keepers.

    Post on, teens![/QUOTE

It is a known fact that with age comes maturity and responsibility. The fact that I'm even responding to you hurts my soul deeply. I do not feel that teensw can not care for herps by any means. If you would take the time to read my posts and not scan through them you would see that it realy has nothing to do ith the age group at all. Love for animals of al categories can come from any age and backround. And I never generalized my opinion to all teens. And I cleary stated that regardless of how many adult keepers are bad and neglectful that this post was directed towards teens and not adults. Maybe you should learn to read instead of critisize. I wish more youth would care for herps then I believe that do. Because their interest is out of pure love and admiration rather than just the fact that they own them. Myh point is tha I hope the younger generation can show the true love and passion for these animals and ther gentle nature. To say that I wish jason will spread his love for herps to his generation to give future humanity a better understanding of these remarkable creatures is rediculous. And for the record saying "most teens" does not show or imply judgement on all teens. Teens are the best keepers in my opinion if the time is available because they re not sidetracked by the complications of adulthood. But require paretal support to care for animals properly which is the x factor. I have no ill will against teen and their ability. Its the x factors and roadv blocks that could come into play. Also I never said I'm talking about kids on this forum because if they are here then they have made all the effort neccesary to care for their animals. Lgray is a very knowledgeble woman and I have already addressed that there are bad adult keepers but tis thread was directed toward 12-18 year old young adults. So don't act like I think that teens are bad keepers because I don't. I fel that a tenen who cares teuley for animals are more able to care properly do to less responsiblitly and obligations. But parental supp9ort could be a major handicap. I want the younger generation to love all animals heeps and mammals alike so in the future dogs will not be the hierarchy of mans best friend but all living creatures. So read before ylou critisize and make me repeat myself. Our youth is our future in every aspect of life. So tell me again how I was wrong again by saying that most childeren are not responsible enough to care fully for animal. Without supportive parents it is practically impossible. So next time you wanna bring some disrespect to the table do so with some intellectual sense. Do to your extensive experience. I was going to get an infractio. In my next sentence but I told judy I wouldn't and you need to gain some sence.

I still have no idea why you even posted this though ... You're replying and it's hurting your soul? Wow, since I'm apparently an enemy of yours for pointing out that you stated something that was completely unnecessary.

I know how to read, and I read everything you wrote, and I know who you were criticizing. If you took the time to read what I wrote, you would stop putting words in my mouth and realize that I think it was completely unnecessary for you to say anything at all.

Your original post in this thread was unrelated to the OP's topic and that was the only point I made. So I don't know why you are carrying on, and I don't know why you are threatening my intellect .... Maybe you should calm down, double check your spelling, and reread what I wrote.

I'm not going to waste my time replying anymore, since my first post to you was the only point I wanted to make - and the only point I continue to repeat. That there was no reason for you to point out that most teen keepers are bad, when all jasonx wanted to do was make a fun thread .... Not really sure why you even posted anything if you couldn't just say something positive.

Telling me that I need to "gain some sense" makes NO sense. You are basically saying that you contributed to this thread by posting that most teens can't take good care of animals, that most teens don't have time to feed or walk a dog, etc. Did you not read the title of the thread? I also don't see the point of telling me that you were going to get an infraction ... Are you trying to look cool? I don't really get it.

    Back on topic, please.

The only thing that worries me is having them while I'm in college.

Yea, I know exactly what you mean. Does anybody know if colleges would allow bps?

Actually I do most of the care for ALL of the animals. I feed them, give them water, bathe them( or bathe WITH them), clean cages, walk them(except when I'm at school, then my dad does), give them medicine, play with them, ect. When we first got Neko, he had an eye problem that required eye gel and liquid medicine twice a day, and I did that for a whole month.
Nice pets Melody, they all look very healthy :gj:
I think a college would allow bps if you didn't tell them about them. I live in an apartment, and they don't know about any of our herps. It's not like trying to hide a dog, and if anyone comes over, just throw a blanket over the cage/rack.

I have a 3 1/2 year old who's has a snake. Obviously I do need to help with the care but he does the most of it. He helps me change thebulbs in the morning and at night. And he reminds me to change em. He tells me when they need more water. And he loves to hold them. He knows not to be loud or jump around them. I think by time he's 12 he'll be able to care for them 100% by himself. I think a kids ability to take care of any animal (even herps) has a lot to do with how early their parents put responsibility on them. Also how much parents support them. To the younger ones with herps that are well taken care of, healthy, and thriving. More power to ya =D :P

The schools that I'm applying to don't allow pets, but it doesn't hurt to ask directly. The worst they can say is no. That's why I have a backup plan. :gj:

I'm 18, nearly 19, and I have 5 snakes so far. I've owned a lot of pets throughout my life and so I've learned since I was young they're a responsibility and you have to take care of them.
