Am I doing something wrong?

I felt the same way when i brought my girl home. she was crazy active and all over the place the first 2 days. then we didnt see her for a week!but I was very respectful of her acclimation process (so hard!) and then offered her a meal after a week, which she accepted with some coaxing and I thought "yes!". then she was gone again, always hiding. I was worried but apparently a happy ball is a hiding ball. we take her out of her hide to handle her and she is very friendly and loves to wrap her tail around things and poke her head around, then when we put her back she'll bask for a while and head off into her hide.
