    :)

I got you on that one. Bought one male normal BP and stuck with that and it's been 4 years. I did buy 4 boas though.

Back on topic, my biggest mistake was buying a Ranco instead of a Herpstat pro up front.

Thinking I'd be fine without a thermostat.

And thinking that 10" tongs would be fine to feed both my Ball and semi-adult BCI. :P

    Good thread op!

My first mistake was pretty big, I used the cheap dial type thermometers, and once I purchased an infrared, I realized the temp inside her hot side hide was 118deg and her cold side was about 90deg (where she stayed).

    O.o I use a 6" hemostat LOL

And honestly I don't feel I have made any Big mistakes... Yet
Well, not securing the lids on my lid (the lid has 2 smaller lids) well enough :P

However I was lurking and posting here like 6 months prior to buying mine

My worst mistake was believing that it was sufficient to feed a baby ball pinkies for an entire [I]year[I], let alone at all. That's how I got my first BP kiss - she was so darn hungry and gave me a "FEED ME DARN IT!" kiss.

Buying husbandry the same day without knowing or purchasing everything I needed. It was an impulse buy so I told myself I'd finish getting everything I needed a few days later when I had more money. I also bought a heatpad with no tstat . Funny how things have changed since I've learned so much.

Starting my first bp in too large of an enclosure (that was sparcely furnished) causing him to fast often as a young snake due to feeling insecure.

Also, not using a thermostat for my first 8 years of keeping snakes (I got my first snake at age 8). Luckily, I never had any snakes suffer burns from the heat pads!
