It would be odd to get dwarf now after good 2 years with this stock of rats. Hmm. Hes cool as hell and shall see how he grows.

It would be odd yes, but with breeding hets you know it's not hard to miss the odds.
I have bred het dwarfs together and got 1 dwarf in a litter of 14 and then repeated the same pairing and got 12 dwarfs out of 15 kits.
You'll know by the time it hits 10-12 weeks old for sure.

Maybe you got lucky, good thing you know what to do with recessive males if you want to carry on the trait :)

hall see if he grows anymore. Hes still nursing mostly and always has a milk ring. I havent weaned him as i want him to eat well.

Why even post this? Your new, Just like I am annd this is why the "newbies' got such a bad rep...
I think it is kinda cool its different... I woulda kept him also... But I read before somewhere (before I started breeding my own rats). There are breeds you dont breed together or with other genes. I think the REX, Blue and Dalmations were some. I dont think it is a Dwarf, but maybe a runt kind of thing?

Theres some you dont breed for mega colon and such. But I only have rexs and siamese. Nothing else.

Feel bad for the little dude but if he's getting along okay otherwise, given his size and everything, kudos to him. Reading your earlier posts, you don't have any hairless genetics in your breeding stock that you know of or do you? I'm clueless about rat genetics, if you couldn't tell, lol! I just didn't know if one type was more prone to producing dwarfs (other than dwarfs specifically bred for that reason) over another type or if the hairless rats threw odd young as a trait or...? More questions than answers, sorry! :D
