Why is it a shame? It's a reptile show, not a dog show. I really don't want to be manuvering around dogs as well as people. I'm not there to see your dog (your being anyone's), and I see no reason for anyone to bring their dog, other than the paying vendors who may have brought their dog with them.

No - I don't have kids. But again - why would someone want to bring their dogs to a reptile show? You didn't answer that.

And for the record, I have a dog, and I also work with Canine Assistants - http://www.canineassistants.org - that trains service dogs for the physically disabled, so I am often in public places with a service dog, and have one at work with me. So I don't have an aversion to dogs.

I just think that there's no reason why someone attending a reptile show would be disappointed that they can't bring their pet dog into the show.

    Enlighten me.

please forgive me,,, i was under the impression that you were some kind of dog hater:oops:. givin your history with dogs,, you should know better than anyone how a obedient dog proforms.... now, saying that,, to answer your question. not too long ago, i moved to a very small town in south ga.. Atlanta is about 3 hours from me... i dont know anyone here (where i live) and my dogs are inside dogs. im not going to leave my dogs inside for 12 or 14 hours alone not being able to pee. you might say "why not just rent a room for the night and bring them with you",, to answer that, im also not leaving my dog in a hotel room alone for 7 or 8 hours (am not sure if he would bark the whole time and that would be disrespectful to others). so im kinda stuck... my dogs are in many ways like my kids,,,,, except there better manered than most kids (as mentioned above).

Do you have a friend who can come by and walk your dogs while you are gone? My neighbor has a key to my apartment, and I'll call her to come grab Diamond if I know I'm going to be gone all day, and she'll come get her when she's taking her own dogs out.

I live less than an hour away from the show - but we ARE getting a room closer to the show this weekend, because we want to hang out with reptile friends after the show, and we can run to the room a few times during the day and again before we go hang out, rather than drive all the way home a few times a day.

Love LaQuinta - our dog goes to out of state reptile shows with us, and she does great. She's only been boarded one time in her 12 years, and we decided after that, she wouldn't be boarded again, and we'd find pet friendly hotels and take her with us. One time we left her home for the weekend, and my same neighbor came over multiple times a day to walk her, let her play with her dogs and feed her for us. We figured she'd be happier in our home with regular walks with someone she knows and loves than being boarded. And she did great, of course.

I was very disappointed with the last show. I showed up Sunday and the pickings were slim and way overpriced. Are they expecting a better turn out?
