    the sides of the tubes are dry now,since i drilled more holes,but the humidity still reads 65-70%

    It is my understanding that it isn't so much the number you are getting - just be sure you have no condensation.

    I have a tub right now that is reading 70% humidty but there is no condensation - so I was told to not worry about it.

    Hopefully this is correct.
