I did see a post somewhere that stated the belly of Mystic vs. Mojave was clearly different. the photo depicted the wide clear belly that you would expect for a Mojave and yet on the Mystic the pattern\coloration wrapped under.
Not sure how accurate that is.
Will try to track it down.

My Pastel Phantom looks nothing like a Pastave. The yellows are brighter and the blacks darker. I agree in the pic of the Mystic to Normal that they both look normal.

I guess this shows that mixing even one other gene really amplifies the difference.

I only lurk here, but I want to see a side by side comparison of mojo and mystic/phantom belly patterns. There are currently two active threads here, and one on Fauna, that attempt to clarify this difference. But no side by side belly shots have been posted on any of the threads. Drew me out of lurker mode!

Louis Kirkland posted a mystic belly in post#33 here

It seems like the side by side belly shots will clear up the confusion a bit ?

IF you picked the one on the right as a mystic your right.. BUT lighter normals especially ones that come in your clutch of normal X mystic that are reduced pattern can sometimes give you a run for your money. Happy herping!

I guess I lose. My guess was neither is a mystic. I belive that is the general concensus

I know this thread is old, but I was wondering about this and had the same question, so to help everyone else out, I will post a belly shot of my mojave in case anyone looks at this thread and wants to see one. Sorry that it isn't super high quality!

I know this is an older thread, but it's still a common question.

The easiest way to tell the mystic from the mojave in hatchlings, is belly shots. (Yeah belly shots!)
