If the OP is telling the truth, and it's assuming it's a dedicated reptile store, I would agree - they should definitely know better.

Maybe they just sold the BP and didn't change the label yet? If they're savvy enough to sell a het VPI Axanthic BP, they probably know what a carpet python is... Worked at a reptile shop for a long time... it happens.

    Perhaps,

I just thought it was weird. The guy who we asked to let us handle it was positive it was a ball python.

I know they only have one good snake guy there. The other guys wouldnt even let me buy my pinstripe without him.

True idiots are those that laugh and make fun of other people. Just because you have made it a priority in life to make yourself knowledgeable on snakes doesn't mean everyone else has. Yuck yuck.

Ignorance at it's finest indeed. Tee hee.

I disagree with you here, it is ignorance because if you don't know something, why answer. For example, I recently got hired at a retail store and when customers coming in asking a million questions about a product, I don't pretend to know everything they are asking (even though I easily could just to make the sale), instead I call for assistance from someone who does. Why? So not only do I learn but the customer gets exactly what they want.

I live by this quote "it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid, than to open it and eliminate all doubt". So as "mean" as it may be, I do find it hilarious when people speak about something they know nothing of. Not knowing doesn't make you stupid, speaking when not knowing does.

And you know what the worst of this all... Some ignorant person will probably walk in there and buy that JCP as a ball python and not care for it properly.
