Re: What has been your biggest clutch of ball python eggs ever?
My max is five, but since this is my first season, I'm not complaining! :D

I had 8 last year which made my biggest, and I had 8 again this year, but I'm far from done this year so I could possibly break my record. I avg 7 eggs though.

We had an imported 5000ish gram Sub-Saharan female lay over 20... I don't remember the exact number, it was a while ago. Bigger clutches for us are usually around 12-13 eggs, with an average of 7-9 or so :D

My first clutch ever was 12. Pastel yellowbelly male to 2700 gram normal female. I got 0.5 pastel yellowbelly, 3.2 pastel, 1.1 yellowbelly. No normals in the clutch. 100% hatched with an average of 76 gram. This years she is up to 3700 grams:)

Hey, Mike, do you know anyone who's currently working with those Sub-Saharans (or are you working with them yourself, still?)
I'm thinking about trying to track some down next year.

When thinking about big clutches, you have to factor in snake length as well as mass. No matter how fat you get those females, their oviducts will only carry so many eggs per lineal foot. :)

I've had at least one 17 egg clutch; might have had bigger ones but don't have the records at hand at the moment. Out of curiosity, I bred the female who produced 17 eggs in 2003 the following year and she produced 13 eggs in 2004. I've not bred her since.

A female I had who typically weighed as much as the 17-egg female but was 6 inches shorter never produced more than 14 eggs. And the mass of the 14 eggs was as much as the mass of the 17 eggs.
