    ^^ Me too!

For entire tub cleaning we dump, spray with clorhexidine, wipe and refill.

For entire tub deep cleaning we dump, scrub with blue dawn (love that stuff), bleach, rinse and refill.

I clean my tank about once a week, a good full clean...removing everything, washing the water dish, wiping tank with Lysol wipes, letting it air out, then putting new paper towels in and then replacing everything.
Call it overkill but ever since I had mites a few months ago, I'm a bit paranoid about making sure there isn't anywhere those suckers can hide or survive.
Thats why I don't like aspen, I don't like the idea of spot cleaning. I like to make sure the tank is thoroughly clean and with aspen thats not really possible.

so with paper towel substrate... how do you keep humidity?

Dumping the bedding is the obvious part--a plastic paint scraper comes in handy when dealing with adhered urates, as does a stiff bristle scrub brush. Dish soap and water, and then disinfect with chlorhex or 10% bleach solution. (I use bleach for quarantine because chlorhex doesn't kill the worst viral bugs).

Place the water bowl over the heat source, and spray occasionally if necessary. Substrate should not be damp, for ball pythons, so with paper towel you can be sure it's dry by looking at it.

I use news print and change it out every time one of my snakes defecates or pees. When I place the new paper in the tub, I lightly spray water on it to help it adhere/form to the tub. This helps keep the snake from remodeling the tub quite as easily (it also helps with humidity).

I've used paper towels for quite awhile. And my humidity stays relatively good. Just have a good size water dish, spray when needed, and cover about 3/4 of the tank top with foil. It works like a charm :)
As far as with tubs im not quite sure about those.

good old paper towel for the pick up. and a clean bleach wetted (1 to 10) paper towel for the wipe up.
