Re: ball python het albino markers?
I have heard that the top of the eyes on het albinos are lighter than others. I only have one proven het albino and his eyes are significantly lighter than all of my others. I have another het albino 09 that hasn't been proven yet, but her eyes are the exact same as my male, so we will see if she proves out. Not sure if its just coincidence but it would be cool to find out if there is some way to tell.

I also have 3 late 09s that are feeding on small rats now so mediums seem feasible to me.

But I have to say overall, the listing would be BS because it does say proven genetic markers. There are no proven genetic markers. And for her to be proven 100% het, she would have to have thrown an albino already, and there is no chance she has done that as an 09. So all in all, BS ad IMO

From what I know/understand, and have researched....That statement is only USEFULL in newborn/very young BOAS, RTBs mainly.....Not BPs...There's no other way to "see" if it's Het for albino...other then gnetics from the breeder or previous owner, which still can be falsified...Good luck.

I say its BS. I agree for anything to be proven, it has to be bred more than once, and to more than one male.

You don't need to breed to multiple males if you pick a homozygous form of the morph you are trying to prove.

So i have heard the white scale marker for het amel BPs im thinking about trading for a pastel"100% het albino" to breed with my female het albino and it has a small odd white patch on the first 1/3 of the body but im not sure if i wanna take his word or the white spot as "proof" of being het albino...and on another note i think it might bepossible for an 09 to take med rats my 2010 het albino female mentioned above takes bigger small rats and she has no trouble whatsoever....i even had a 7 month old normal ball that got out and into a rat cage with a small rat when i came home the rat was gone and the snake looked like it was gonna die. before she ate it she was about the width of a 2 human thumbs when i got home she was fatter then my wrist she passed the rat after a week or 2 and i eventually traded her but thats just my personal negative experience with "food thast too big"i just got lucky that she didnt die i guess

Why are you dragging up a 2 year old thread to post an impossible to read run-on sentence ?

It's probably a result of using the search function. :D

I'm broadly in favour of people who do that.

Despite the age of this thread, there are STILL no 'markers' for het albino.

Every single het albino I have seen has white around the aliens coming up off the belly.
Sure lots of normals have this, so it doesn't work just looking for a snake with white around the borders, but I have yet to see a het albino that doesn't show this trait...

Anyone have a 100% het albino that doesn't have the white border?
