Is size important to you? IJs tend to be smaller than Bredli's.
Thats just it i wasent sure how big a centralian carpet got i assumed no bigger then a BCI if not smaller could you elaborate on this and what type husbandry do they need is it comparable to a BCI husbandry
Re: carpet python or boa?
Most bredli will be bigger than most irian jaya's. Of course most males stay smaller than females, so if size is ever an issue I would try getting a male. Though if you're willing to take on a BCI then a bredli wouldn't be an issue I don't think.
Differences in husbandry are quite subtle. There is always a basic that works for most snakes and that is 90 hotspot and 80 coolside/ambient. Only major difference would be humidity I think. Boas will need higher humidity not just for shedding but higher ambient as well. A carpet will do fine in pretty much whatever humidity and will shed pretty much no problem. A boa has a much thinner skin and therefore needs higher humidity.
Cage size may be a little different, but generally the same. A large boa would like to have a 6'x2' floor space, but then so would a large bredli or Irian jaya. However carpets are often considered semi arboreal and therefore will use height in a cage as well. But usually both will be fine in a 4'x2'.
Now, I might be the only one. But I think even a boa would use cage height if you gave it to them. Most snakes are adept climbers, even if they are terrestrial. I'm not saying you have to, but it's an idea. I just don't want you to think a boa wouldn't use it, so if you want to then go for it. If not I haven't seen many boa's complain about having short cages lol. It's all up to you, you see that you can't really lose with either! Hahaha snakes are awesome eh'? ~Caylan.S.~
Re: carpet python or boa?
Carpets are pretty darned beautiful, but in my honest opinion, boas are just about the most amazing snakes out there! [In most cases] They're total sweethearts, very relaxed, great feeders, big but not TOO big, and absolutely gorgeous!!
How could you pass up a girl like this?? (I know I am very much so cheating by adding pics to sway the OP, but I can't help showing off my little gal wherever I go!)

It depends on how much your willing to spend, personally I would get a sunglow red tail boa because they are just awsome snakes in general, and awsome to show your friends=D

Thanks! I bought her last year from Dave Colling for $50 at a show. At the time, she wasn't half as pretty as she is now. But all of Dave's stock are sure to turn out gorgeous with time. ;)
