The Spied isn`t that bad :colbert: :colbert: and I am pretty sure that the Champied will be made this year and I think the Banana Champagne....A lot of fun stuff going on with these Champagnes.

In 2007 I was way to stupid when Brock offered a male for sale during the Daytona show( I think it had breeder size also). I didnīt believe in the Champagne:mad::mad::mad:. Stupid me. So 3 years later I finally go into the Champagnes........

That combo as been done by a breeder in Italy, Champagnes are called Puma in Italy, the Puma Pied greatly resembles the Spied (Spider Piebald) he coined them the Puma Pied.

    Ok,
So I am fairly new to ball pythons and all the genetic morphs. I was looking around today at all the different combos and came across the mimosa. I have a genetic calculator on my phone so when I see something I like I will go breed the two morphs together to see what the odds/outcome is.

Here is where I am confused. If a Champagne bred to a Ghost creates a Mimosa how come when bred together on the genetic calculator it comes up with 50% het ghosts and the other half 50% het ghosts and champagnes?

This also may be a little off topic but I also came across that when putting in the calculations of breeding an albino to a pied. The odds/outcome came out to be half 100% het albino and half 100% het pied. The reason this confuses me is because you are breeding visual morphs together and only coming out with hets? When I think of breeding an albino to a pied the odds/outcomes I think about are 1/4 albino 100% het pied 1/4 pied 100% albino and somewhere in there coming out with an albino pied.

I am not an expert as I have explained above and this is where you guys come in. I would appreciate any feed back anyone may have regarding both combos. As I stated I am new to ball python genetics and looking into combos to work with so understanding more how the genetics work would really help me. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing what you all have to say :)

it does not, a mimosa is a ghost (hypo) champagne but that breeding does not create it.

recessive morphs (such as ghost pied and albino) need to be homozygous to visually show, which is basically he same thing as a super.

    Male:
    Female:
    Percent Fraction Traits
    50% 1/2 Pastel, Champagne
    50% 1/2 Pastel

    Male:
    Female:
    Percent Fraction Traits
    50% 1/2 Champagne, Het Hypo
    50% 1/2 Het Hypo

to make a visual or super, both parents at the minimum need to have one part of the gene. Only difference between the co-dom/inc-dom and recessive hets is the normals and het recessive look the same

    Male:
    Female:
    Percent Fraction Traits
    12.5% 1/8 Champagne, Super Pastel
    12.5% 1/8 Super Pastel
    25% 1/4 Pastel, Champagne
    25% 1/4 Pastel
    12.5% 1/8 Champagne
    12.5% 1/8 Normal

    Male:
    Champagne, Het Hypo
    Female:
    Het Hypo
    Percent Fraction Traits
    12.5% 1/8 Mimosa
    12.5% 1/8 Hypo
    37.5% 3/8 Champagne, 66% Possible Het Hypo
    37.5% 3/8 66% Possible Het Hypo

Correct odds for albino x pied would be all double hets:

    Male:
    Female:
    Percent Fraction Traits
100% 1/1 Het Albino, Het Piebald

breeding the double hets together would result in this:
    Male:
    Het Albino, Het Piebald
    Female:
    Het Albino, Het Piebald
    Percent Fraction Traits
    6.25% 1/16 Albino, Piebald
    18.75% 3/16 Albino, 66% Possible Het Piebald
    18.75% 3/16 Piebald, 66% Possible Het Albino
56.25% 9/16 66% Possible Het Albino, 66% Possible Het Piebald
