You need to be careful "pushing" it back in. If you fold it onto itself, you will kill that part that is overlapped, thus killing the snake. If this has happened once, it will probably happen again. Like someone said, this one may need a stitch to keep it from prolapsing again.
I can't tell you how bad of a prolapse this is. I would like to see more pictures of the prolapse as well as the vent. I'm also concerned that the owner didn't know what to do immediately and I'm not sure there hasn't been some damage already. I can only hope that he got on BP.net immediately and got answers really quickly.

I can't believe a vet would send that snake home with nothing more than antibiotics.

I am with you on this 100% Jim. This is the worst case I have seen....sorry to tell you that. I do allot of research .....seen allot of pics...but wow! Like I stated before and Jim has reiterated....I really believe that as bad as this one is...it will need a stitch. Someone had a very very good idea...if there are no more reptile vets in your area...start calling the zoo's and asking for the reptile department. You can even ask them who they use. Also if no luck there call the breeders in your area. Some of the more experienced breeders may even be able to do it for you...but make sure they have allot of experience. Also they are really going to need to do a fecal test as well....sometimes this will happen due to a parasite overload and other times....it just happens????
