Okay, I'm going to send you a nickel's worth of advice. If you live within 100 miles from me (Baltimore Maryland), I'll take the skink. If not, I think you need someone that will take the skink from you. With the responses I've read, you don't seem to have the will to do what it must take to work with the skink enough to cure the infection. Without a vet visit, do you actually know what's wrong with the BTS?
Please find someone that will help this BTS.

yeah, so this is his wife, we haven't given up on the skink, i made a appointment for it, Also, if some of you have nothing nice to say keep your traps shut, he ( my husband ) was having a bad day, we still get the skink out & play with him, he still snaps at us & tries to bite, anyway,Flynn, we do love & care about our skink in "the long run" so before you Attempt to say what we do or do not care about , learn about the people/ person you are trying to figure out!!

you can't say you're not giving an animal its proper husbandry requirements (ie turning the lights off) in one sentence, and then say that you love the animal dearly and that we should all be quiet and go away in the next because you care "oh so much" about your animal.
The bottom line is:
if you cannot afford veterinary care, or provide your animal with its proper requirements, you are not a suitable owner for that animal. period.
Money gets tight, we understand that. But this forum is NO substitute for a qualified vet to treat an animal. Quite a few people recommended a vet because of their concern for the welfare of the animal.
I am glad that he's going to see a vet. It is a very nice thing for you guys to give a less than loveable animal a home, but remember, the animals needs come first because they rely completely on their owners. They are helpless to get themselves out of a bad situation. Please remember this.
Good luck with his treatment, let us know how it goes.

I'm glad you are going to take care of the BTS, but you can't fault us, when your husband says he's going to let the skink die. To be honest with you, the BTS should not be "played with". He should be left along in a slightly warmer enclosure. Since you really don't know what's wrong with the BTS, you could be doing more harm than good.
If you and your husband come here looking for help, then get some information that you don't like to hear, then maybe it's you that need to look at the situation. You asked for help, we told you what you did not want to hear and now you tell us to "keep your traps shut".
That's fine. I think you will find many here, more than willing to help anyone, but you've got to take the good with the bad.
I think I will take your advise and I will keep my trap shut.
Good Luck,
Jim Smith

It's nice that you are sticking up for your husband but:

Re: blue tongue skink issues
oh, ok, well she didn't know that, & i am paraphrasing for her, she was telling Flynn to not try to categorize us as uncaring, or irresponsible, she wouldn't let me turn the lights off, she got a antibiotic for him , & yes we are doing what needs to be done!
my part:
I appreciate the help& as my wife puts it, i don't like being talked to like im a little kid, which as my wife stated make sure you know those you are trying to figure out, don't jump to conclusions!
thanks
