I've never heard that before. They don't stress that easily and they have no problem with handling.

I had seen that stated on a craigslist ad - the owner said these snakes aren't to be handled. I think I copied the scientific name that the post listed, and did a www engine search. One or two of the results turned up blogs or care sheets that said to not handle them. I can't find them now, I didn't bookmark them.

And the first site I visit this time around, says the opposite of what I read:

Meh - if it came off of Craig's List I wouldn't even waste your time on it.

Indigos do fine with regular handling. They are known as great handling snakes. The only downside to owning them is that they eat a lot, poop alot and need a lot of room.

Cool stuff Skippie. I'm pretty excited to find these on my first trip to south Texas this april.

Believe me, I wasn't born overnight and don't take CL as the bible. :)
That is why I did some research. And when the first site I went to confirmed it, I just let it go since I'm in need of more snakes like I'm in need of a hole in the head. :D

And I'm familiar with the eat-a-lot poop-a-lot crowd... my lucistic Texas rat reminds me of it every time I pass her house. lol

BEAUTIFUL SNAKE!!!!! I love easterns.. We have a texas and that thing is very aggro. I wish I could get the impossible permit in FL to keep them lol. If these bans follow through im moving outta state... to PA...

I'm in Louisiana and I've looked in to it in the past. I can't keep one without a permit, etc either. I also don't think just anyone can get the permit.

How are you able to keep them legally. Do you have the federal permit? They are protected by the Endangered Species Act.
