Hi,

Quite a few people this side of the pond simply refuse to deal with minors because of the inability to form a binding legal contract. That fact removes a lot of protection and safegaurds for both sides sadly. :(

If anything at all went wrong then the fact there is no contract would become really important really fast.

I suspect if your parents were to actually get directly involved and purchase the animal in their name then there would be no problems - but that is just supposition on my part.

As far as I know there is a name on paypal and it is under my parents names. Therefor it would be them buying it. The whole "Legal Contract" is hypothetical. There is no paperwork done, so you would think that a breeder wouldnt need any reason to ask for stuff like that. Its easy, i give you money, you give me snake. The end.

My parents are involved I have just been the one talking to john. I had them check their bank account for the pay pal money and add it from their account. There is nothing else I can do to get them "directly involved"
Except, have them email him. Which could just be me anyway. Or call them. Whos to say i cant just be like "yeah this is jasons dad."

and really. down right ignoring me after i sent mulitiple emails asking whats happening isnt very helpful to me. He didnt even bother to tell me, I will not sell to you because I think you are under 18. :mad:

meh, i have 4 snakes from jas.. i had great experience each time i done business with him.

i have a great Female Pastel from him btw.. :gj:

and if he don't feel comfortable selling his animals to you for any reason, he obviously reserves the right to decline a sale to you, and i don't blame him for being cautious in his sales, means he is doing his part in making sure they go to the right homes and help prevent stupid stuff happening like BP's being banned because irresponsible handlers/owners..

Have recently had the pleasure of "chatting" with John Stranahan through email in part due to this thread. Just wanted to say that he does seem to be a great guy and a wonderful person to talk to when you are a newbie like me. He has offered to answer any of my questions even if I don't buy from him and even offered me an unbelievable deal on a Pastel (which I refused because I'm not ready to bring a snake home yet) just to get me started. Kudos to John for being so helpful!

I had the dis[pleasure of dealing with him today. I tried to be as nice and professional as I could but he still acted immature. Below is the email transcript.

The first comment that I no longer have was he commented on my vlog video asking who I was so I initiated email contact with him which starts below.

I run Daily Reptile News which is a news show on you tube 3 days per week as well as the website which is a site dedicated to reptile news from around the world. I have been doing the new one way or another since November 2006 and got the awesome idea to make it more personable by doing the videos, with those I also started keeping up a vlog as well. My videos that go on you tube automatically post to my face book wall. My little project is getting more popular by the day but I would not call myself anybody or any better than you or anyone ells. I am just a reptile enthusiast who enjoys networking with other enthusiasts around the world. I do use Face Book quite a lot as I am connected to it all day and night ether in the office or on my mobile device and since I lead such a boring life I use it to communicate my thoughts, feelings, ambitions or just to joke around with my friends. If you would like to learn more about my there is a lot written here, on the website or you can listen to Urban Jungles Radio next Friday at 10pm eastern time where I will be on for about 20 minutes talking about what I do. I know I didnt ask you to be my friend. I have never ask anyone to be. Just the way I am. You can Google Jasballs and learn alot about me also. I sugar coat Nothing..

Oh yes I see it now. I did not realize at first there were 2 snakes there. Its been a long day. I'm sure I more than likely saw your profile in the area where FB recommends friends and saw you were a snake enthusiast. I honestly thought you were joking when you asked. I mean not all my friend here know me personally, in fact most of them dont but they know "of" me from the work I have been doing. Wow, I seam to have offended you in some way. I am sorry for that. My intention is to help the people in the reptile industry and hobby by reporting the news in an unbiased way. I have not heard Larry and BT in some time, A year or so I believe, are they still doing it. Anyway mine is on youtube, its an extension to the work I have done on the site for those that dont like to read the news they can just click a link and listen to it.

As you can see as far as I am concerned he is a real class act moron. To the admin, I am very sorry I thought about editing his language out but figure anyone doing business with him would like to know the vulgarities he uses with people. You can take it for what its worth but as you see above I tried everything I could to be polite and never once made an insult in any way shape or form.

I consider John to be a good friend , i have had the pleasure in receiving a few of his animals in the past and they are exactly what they were supposed to be. we talk back and forth on chat , hes a great guy . and if you don't have a sick/warped sense of humor somethings might offend you . but luckily my sense of humor is as sick/warped as his LOL .
