Help!!!

Just got back from the herp vet. Said everything is looking good. Gave me baytril to inject Sub Q every 3 days for 9 shots.

However, she also said that every reptile except for leos need uv light, or else they will have respiratory problems. I was like uhhhh, I'm pretty active on a forum and if people want to use lights, that's cool, but it's not necessary. So then she responds, "Well people don't want to buy them because they're expensive." So, I think I may have found my exotic vet...the one that didn't have an opening today forcing me to go to her.

Snake lighting requirements aren't well understood, but it's generally accepted that they do fine in captivity without UVB light, especially the nocturnal species. I have never heard of a reptile having respiratory problems specifically because of lack of UVB light...skeletal problems for sure, but not respiratory. Lack of heat can lead to respiratory infections, and improper lighting can inhibit basking behavior in some species, but UVB wavelengths aren't directly related to respiratory health.

Regarding the argument that people don't buy lights because they're expensive....I wonder how much she thinks some designer morph ball pythons go for? ;)
