Re: Do You Believe?
When we were kids my dad would head into the bush with us for 3 - 4 months at a time. If you wanted to eat, you had to fish or hunt.
Do not do it as an adult, I just do not see the point to it personally, but half my siblings still hunt and are bringing their kids up the same way.
In hunting families it is a rite of passage, and hopefully they are being taught respect for the animals and how to hunt responsibly.
As long as people are responsible, do it safely, and stick within the laws, it does not bother me.

Re: Do You Believe?
I've always wanted to try hunting. I'm a little afraid of guns but I want to get over this. We go fishing all the time, though, and if we get a good sized trout or bass we'll take it home and fry it up. Seriously, nothing is better than a freshly caught trout fried up in butter... mmmmmm :)

Re: Do You Believe?
I believe in hunting responsibly. I don't mind trophys on the wall, it's not my thing, but hey, as long as it was hunted responsibly and what could be used was used, I don't care what bits and pieces people want to keep.
Hunt or fish, all good to eat. I don't particularly feel bad about killing a deer as opposed to a goat or a cow. They are all critters. They were all alive at some point, minding their own business, and then someone killed them. If I kill it myself at least I know how it died, and what happened to it after it was dead.
One thing I haven't ever quite grasped is the people that say "I eat meat, but I could never kill something to eat it." Not that I'm bashing them, or saying they are wrong, I just don't quite grasp the concept. I truely believe you should remember where that meat came from and respect that it once was alive and breathing, just like you. I can sort of snatch at the outsides of the idea.. I just can't quite get there.

Re: Do You Believe?
I love to hunt and fish :gj:.If we did not help control the populations then they would starve to death and die from starvation of course this would be worse.

Re: Do You Believe?
I go shooting all the time and am an avid marksman but have never had the chance to go hunting. I would really like to go but don't know anyone to go with. And as for Wolfys comment I dont have a problem with killing the animal but the cleaning of the animal would be a bit difficult for me, I think. lol.

I had a marksman shot, but never bagged anything bigger than a spruce grouse or rabbit. Drove my dad nuts, and was the reason at 15 I got to start staying home and going to concerts while my brother was out in the bush smelling like a feral child.
Hopefully you can find a like minded person to go hunting with, if it is something you want to do. :)

Normaly if animals are underfed they dont produce babies that season ;).One other thing is diseases set in on the sickly animals and more animals die then those that are actually killed by hunters.
