    Re: Canadian Reptile Breeder's Expo!
as for shipping, i'm in canada and can NEVER EVER find anyone to ship to me, (so many rules regulations restrictions etc) but i've spoke to many breeders who have told me that if i could get the reptiles shipped to a bordertown and then drive down to pick them up, there shouldn't be a problem DRIVING them over the border. don't quote me on it though, you might want to find out from the border patrol or whoever of "them" you need to speak to. if you're coming from afar, maybe flying to the closest city in the states and then doing a car rental to drive from the US to the expo in canada and back might be a good option.

so jealous of everyone that's going to this! i'm going to the BCRC show and sale and i'm afraid there's not gonna be many snakes that i want left!

NO I really wouldn't do this... If border patrol finds the animal without proper verified CITES paperwork the animal will be seized and there is a chance you can be charged.

    I wouldn't take the risk. :(

    1.1 100% Het Orange Ghost Pair 08
0.1 Normal 09 (Little Bro wants one. Shhhh....... it's a surprise;))

ok, that's why i said don't quote me on it! but i've been told by a few different breeders that there "shouldn't" be any problem driving them across the border. i guess there won't be a problem if they don't find them! what about from US to canada? are the rules as strict?

    Hi,

Would you really trust someone else's "shouldn't be a problem" in relation to getting charged with illegally smuggling cites protected animals? :weirdface

Either way I'm going to have to ask you to bear this rule in mind I'm afraid.

no problem, sorry about that. i will for sure keep this in mind.
i was definitely wondering how breeders go about getting them across the border but can't seem to find any good resources. it is kind of disheartening as a canadian that the majority of breeders are in the states!

    Hi,

Mostly breeders would either just arrange the cites themselves or use a broker who would arrange it for them I think.

There are still some amazing breeders in canada though.
