The BP I got a couple of months ago was under fed and had little clumps of skin all over the place. The previous owner had to get rid of him so we got him and a 40 gallon tank for like $60. He is now shedding much better and is growing a lot for a 3 year old ball python even though I feed him every 2 weeks. I believe his growth may have been stunted.

This did the trick perfectly!!! I saw my Louie go into blue and was excited to seem him come out of his hide and shed but after a week I knew something was up so I took him out and he only had a few pieces on his nose come off so I followed the instructions and VOILĄ happy bright clean Louie!!! I put him in the "snake sauna" and after an hour the shed came off easily. THANK YOU CHRISTIE!!

Thanks so much! I just got my first BP yesterday. It's a month old and it hasn't been through its first shed yet so I'm worried for when it comes, but at least now I know what to do if it goes badly! Thanks again!

also does anyone know about what age BP's go through there first shed? I know it's usually monthly for younger ones but I'm not how long till their first. Is it still about when their a month old?

I wouldn't worry yourself about anything ... most snakes are pretty much bomb proof :)

Worst case scenario is it has a bad first shed but then you just follow the thread introductions ( first post ) and then try and get the humidity right for next time .

Enjoy ... There's really nothing to worry about :)

My snake has had trouble shedding over the last couple weeks. I first noticed he was dull 2 weeks ago and 1 week ago I saw that it was coming off in small pieces. I tried doing this but only for 5-10 minutes. I got most of it off but the head/neck area still isn't complete and one eye cap is still on. I'll be going out to get a tub tomorrow morning and trying the soak for an hour like the first post. Hopefully that'll do it!

..... Yeah , 30 mins to an hour soaking and remember to have a damp / wet textured towel ready and let the snake slide through the towel repeatedly ( until you get fed up) ....when the head pops out cover the head with the towel and keep don't that ..
Just apply gentle pressure with your hands ..

looks like I'll be going back to basics, after Zorro had his first bad shed in 2 yrs.. my god what a complete mess he's in....humidity obviously at fault!! he's had a soak in a damp pillowcase today, and I'll repeat again tomorrow, after letting him have a shallow soak for a bit.... good advice never grows old, eh? :gj:
