Re: What would you do in my situation?
I called them again to see if I could put an emergency hold on it. The woman I spoke to this time was way more helpfull than the last couple people. Unfortunately though she said that the package isn't in NH anymore, it's actually on a truck or train on it's way to Illinois. She said I could try calling a UPS store to see if they can do an intercept but that would be my only option.
Apperently the address this kid sent it to was wrong as was my name. The tracking # is 1Z0451W30303414843. It's supposed to be shipped to 2275 Omro Rd. Oshkosh, WI 54904 which is my work address, he sent it to 1399 waugoo ave. Oshkosh, WI 54901. Now my home address is 1353 waugoo, I have no clue how he found the street I live on and as far as I know there is 1399 waugoo, I'm a few houses from the lake and the address goes up the closer to the lake you get.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
I'm going to need your name too.
In fact, either give me a call or give me your number and I'll call you.

I have every confidence that Wes will be able to help you out. He is as trustworthy as it gets and really only has your best interests at heart. Give him a call and see if you can get somewhere.

That was nice of you, Wes!!! :aww: :gj: I hope the lil spidey gals are ok! (if they exist...)

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Whew, this is tense to read.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Wes was able to find out where they're going and get me a contact of someone I can hopefully talk to tomorrow. The package is in the back of a truck on it's way to Illinois and won't be accesible until Monday. When I call the woman at the UPS hub that Wes was able to track down I'll be able to, at the very least, get them the correct shipping address. Unfortunately though, since they won't be accesible until Monday, they wouldn't arrive until Tuesday whether I overnighted them or let them go the way they're going now. Thanks again everyone for all the help, especially Wes, you guys have no idea how much it means to me that people are willing to go to such great lengths to help me out here. I'll let you all know where we stand tomorrow if I get a hold of her.
Thanks again, you guys rock:gj:

Re: What would you do in my situation?
I really hope this works out for you. If they were still in NH I would have picked it up since I will be there tomorrow anyway. Keep us updated. Wes, you did a good thing trying to help.

I agree 100%. I am praying for a very happy ending to this story. :please:
I hope that little punk gets to know Mrs. Karma very well in his life.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Let me know if there's anything I can do. I live just outside of Chicago and don't really have anything going on tomorrow.
If there's a way you can get the shipper to let me/or someone else to pick them up tomorrow, it's worth a shot!

Re: What would you do in my situation?
I hope everything turns out ok. This was truly a crap move.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Oh what I would do to this kid if I ever met him...
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Any updates guys? I know the snakes are probably sitting in a wearhouse right now as it is sunday.... Hopefully they're doing alright! I just wanted to keep projecting possitive thoughts....
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Yep, if it were me. I would beat this kids face in.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
ok small update. So I wasn't able to do anything about the arrival date so the package will be here tomorrow. Hopefully the animals are ok. Anyways, the kid sent them out to an address which doesn't exist first of all and secondly, I just got a very worried phone call from UPS saying that someone had called and claimed that the package contained live VENOMOUS snakes:confused:. I'm not sure if the kid who sent them called and told them this to try and cause problems for me, but I informed the man who called that they are Ball Pythons. This whole ordeal is so ridiculous now that all I can do is  and maybe :carouse:.... good thing I've got some Malibu in the freezer:gj:

Re: What would you do in my situation?
I'll be looking for updates tomorrow for sure.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
What about at least having them held at UPS for you to pickup tomorrow so they aren't on a hot truck all day.

I thought about that, but I actually am having them shipped to my work. I would have them held but I am a dog groomer/manager so I'll be at work from 7am - 5 or 6pm depending on how my dogs are tomorrow. I'm bringing all the equipment I need to set them up right away (tubs, UTH w/ thermo) and am putting them in a quiet area so they won't be uncomfortable while I work. Updates will definitely be coming as soon as I get off tomorrow along with the video I'll be making of me opening the package, good or (knock on wood) bad.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
If those animals arrive safely, I would do some serious QT. Anyone who handles that transaction the way he did probably doesn't have great husbandry practices. The way he shipped I don't think he has the animals best interest at heart.
That video of you opening the box is a great idea, btw.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Looking forward to updates. Hope it turns out in your favor.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Well, the package got here this morning. I'm having trouble uploading the video to youtube, but here's the jist of it. Package arrives, I take it in back, open it, see a nice white styrofoam lining and a lid with a hole punched in it. I open the lid and..... AIR. That's it, just air and some dust. I took the styrofoam out to see if maybe they got under it but, no, there was nothing whatsoever in the package. I'm so sick and numb right now I don't know what to do. I'll post the video if I can get it to go up on youtube.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
What? Did he think you wouldn't notice an empty box?

Sorry you got scammed. Truthfully, I would be more sick if there was an animal in there. Hopefully you can find this scammer and get money or snakes out of them. So sorry.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Wow, I'm sorry this happened to you.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
I'm really sorry that you got scammed so badly. If it were me I would start a new thread on the BOI calling this person out for what they truly are. Since it was a trade you can't recover money, but you can try to make others aware so that he can't continue to scam. You have a good amount of info, and it's probably his real name as he has a Myspace and such under that name.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
OH NO!! What a punk, I hope you will be able to make his life as miserable as you possible can. I know your options are limited but I hope you make him pay!!! :rage:
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Call the police in his home town and file a report for theft. Don't let the put you off.
Save the box and label too.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Was the hole just punched in the styrofoam or in the box itself? If it was in the box too you will probably have a hard time proving they didn't escape. If he was dumb enough to forget to punch a hole in the box too, then I would imagine you might have a shot. Your only recourse will likely be a civil matter, I don't know if you would actually be able to file anything criminal on this.
Either way, sorry this happened to you. Do you have any of the guy's info? If not you may be able to get local law enforcement to get fauna to release the IP address to you. Then you could locate the owning ISP of the IP and subpeona the customer's information.
It's not going to be a very quick process. Your best bet would be to "threaten" legal action noting what I said about the IP information. Be careful in your correspondence though, you only want to "inform" him of legal action including what can take place, no actual threats or abusive confrontation(language). Keep copies of all correspondence between you and him, note everything to the letter in a sequence of events.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
There were no holes in the box itself only in the top of the styrofoam lid. I'm going to try getting a hold of him and "threatening" legal action, but from what I can tell, all the #'s he's given are not his. Even the phone # on the UPS shipping label was an older woman who had no idea what I was talking about.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Put the box and ALL the packing and tape together and take it to an UPS office and have it weighed. Then compare the weight to what the shipping weight was. That will tell you if anything was inside the box when he shipped it....

That's a good idea. I'll try the scale here at home. The shipping label said it was 1.9lbs

That's a great idea ^^^!
You do have his e-mail address so you can contact him at least, so that's good for the "threatening" part. What about the address you shipped your package to? Have you tried a reverse lookup on it for a phone number?
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Was the UPS man there when you opened it? I am thinking he might be trying to scam UPS for the full value of the package.....If it weighs the same, let UPS go after him for fraud....

Re: What would you do in my situation?
UPS won't cover animals.
The weight is insignificant. You can put any weight you want on a shipping container and so long as the container does not weigh more, no correction will be made. They make more money off you that way.
Should you put 9 lbs on an 11lb package, you will be charged the difference but will never be credited for putting 11lbs on a 9 lb package.
Your best bet is get a detective from his home town involved.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
I weighed the box and it weighs the same as it said. The UPS man wasn't there when I opened it. I'm going to try and figure out where he actually lives. The address I sent my animals to was, apparently, not his address. They were being received by someone who knew him while he was at work. According to that guy, the kid lives in Lowell, MA but the phone # he gave me for contacting the kid was a cell phone based in Nashua, NH, where I sent my animals. So I'm all confused.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Sorry to hear about all this. I would also report the guy who actually received your snakes. Any info you have on that person should be looked into as well. It might be the same guy, or maybe not. And he could easily be in on the scam. I do hope you get something resolved with this! Too many bad people seem to get away with this stuff.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
If you have the guy's address and phone number that received the animals call their local PD and talk to a detective as suggested. They will likely visit the home and get the actual guy's name and address for you. If he's a kid talk to his parents. Either way, if the cops show up at his house you may just get this resolved.

So what ever became of this situation after the package arrived. Any contact?

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Yes, I for one need a update so see if anything happened to this s-head of a kid. Sorry that happened to you :(
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Right now I'm still working on getting this guy. I've contacted several people and got the ball rolling but there seems to be a lot of jumps and hoops to go through to get anything done in a situation like this.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
*poke*
Any updates on this horrible situation?
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
yes, please update.
When I ship to someone who has no reputation on BOI I demand to have their work phone number, which I call and verify his/her employment with their boss. Jobs are alot less "fly-by-night" than net10 phones.
Sorry that happened to you, karma will get that little bastard.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Does anyone know what ever happened with this?
...That realy sucks... Hope everything is better :taz:

Re: What would you do in my situation?
