What would you rather have? Albino or Axanthic?

I would pick albino. Albinos are one of my favorite genetic mutations out there.

I love the VPI Axanthics but the albino gene will always have my heart. I want to produce some Albinos then acquire some axanthics and a spider so I can work on a "Spider Snow" project that I conceived earlier in the year when I met Brian Sharp and saw his Snows.

I will never breed.

Axanthic looks like a normal to me.

I voted for albino early in the thread and this week put my money where my mouth was and got an albino from Ladyohh. :banana:

You read my mind. I have a Pin Het Albino Female that i am plugging in with my snow male. I am just praying for a pin albino het axanthic so I can breed it to my snow.:taz:

I chose albino simply because I own a het. albino male and there are so many uses for an albino. That's not to say that I don't want an axanthic. I just want albinos more.

An Axanthic Ball Python lacks yellow or reddish pigmination due to a change in the xanthophores. This link will tell you more and show some pictures.

Do a google search for BP breeders. Many of them have good pictures of Axanthics.

Axanthic, for the simple reason that it would be the last ingrediant I need to produce the one snake I really want. I have a spider and a pastel so can make bees, but I really want a axanthic bee. They are the best looking snake I have ever seen.

I voted albino they are my favorite snake 2nd to the spider

well i own a ablino ( high contrast) and I have a set of the het jol line axanthics. I also have a set of het pieds. along with my large group of normals balls.

I hoping to prduce a axanathic pied and then add to it futher with a ablino in the long run.. make some triple het snakes would really take it off he deep end and since i have all the base snakes it just take time for me to do so .. But you never know what you get then lol..

Albino. I don't like how axanthics brown out so much and look almost completely normal.

As for the looks, im voting for the albino. But in regards to future breedings and crosses, im voting for the axanthic. For me, axanthic crosses are better than albino crosses. Like the pastel ax, pied ax, ax bee, etc. The only albino cross that i want is the albino spider. But this is just my opinion guys.:) Peace Out, and Happy new year!

I concur lol. Only I have two bino cross's that I want. The cinnamon albino, and spider.

I personally would rather have the albino. Some axanthics brown out as they age and tend to look like a dark normal, Albino's on the otherhand will ALWAYS look like an albino.

If the Axanthic kept its color, I'd pick it but unfortunately it doesn't.....So albino.

went to nerd the other day, held a 2 day old one, it was stunning and purplish too,cant wait to see it when its older.

Albino definitely. To me, they are simply stunningly gorgeous. So different looking. Axanthics are nice but most of them just look more or less like dark normals in my opinion. But that's just me :) I've always loved albino snakes

I loooove axanthics, the more black and white, the better. I really want one of those, it would match my outfits since I wear black and white only 90% of the time. Hahaha.

But it seems like their coloration fades as they age and they look more like normals when they grow up. :/

I love albino's too, with their bright yellow and cute pink eyes. But I'm a fan of black and white.

I would have to say axanthic all the way!
I'm not saying i don't like albinos i have a female and she is gorgeous, also het for snow.

I read a few of the posts here and have to agree, axthanics looks soooooo nice when there babies, but DO brown with age quite a bit. I still think there a stunning animal, BUT if I had a pick I would go albino just because of the extreme colors they have.
