C'mon out then Mem's!!! I've lived on the east coast and even went back there for a few weeks a couple of years ago.... :puke: the water was so dirty and the beaches were so crowded that it was like a friggin public bath house :omfg:
In Oregon you can have bonfires on the beach and there are no giant crowds. You can go to an eatery and when you're finished eating you can take with you your unfinished bottle of wine and walk the beaches.... It's so nice!

yea...I don't swim in the east coast waters. lol.
but the blue water in Fl...I am all about!
I don't like cold weather so if I had a choice of places I would live..it would be Fl.
But I would love to take a trip to Oregon to visit one day!

Re: Daytona 08, is it true?
Yeah, I hear y'all about east coast beaches, I STILL have yet to understand why people come to VA Beach for vacation/to see the ocean?!?!?! YUCK!! I hesitate to even let the water run over my feet!!
But I agree Meme!! FL beaches are beautiful!!

Yes move it to Atlanta! That would make me a happy snake lady and quite possibly a completely broke one!
Edit to say: I have a year pass to the Aquarium and I love going there. Sometimes it can be horribly crowded but I've found if you go in the late afternoon, close to close, it's not so bad. Tons of kids there though which can be horribly irritating due to the massive number of them who chronically misbehave...
-
Re: Daytona 08, is it true?
I'll still go to Daytona. I like the show, even if I chronically miss the fun stuff. I love the snakes, and wouldn't miss the giants not being there(except seeing the truely awesome retics like the golden child and all) that much.

Re: Daytona 08, is it true?
so what do we know for sure? isnt kara on this forum? perhaps she can clear up why they arent going.. i hope this isnt true, weve never been before and were planning on going this year. If it is true I would be very interested to hear the real reason behind it. Brian (bhb) are you going? Adam (8ball) are you going?

Re: Daytona 08, is it true?
I talk to Kara often. She and Kevin will be attending the show, but will not have a table this year, and for two reasons - one is the large animal ban, and secondly - they just need a break this year. It's a LOT of work packing up your animals, transporting them, setting up in Daytona, worrying about them in transit, etc.
But again - they are COMING to the show - you can still meet them. When they do bring their ball pythons, the majority of the animals are ones that most of us can't afford anyway - so it's not like you're going to miss out on buying a ball python from them - you still can - just contact them directly. They're both awesome!
Adam attends the show each year, but has never had a table. He's never needed to have a table, and he chooses not to expose his animals to a show environment. Any time you do a show, you really should be quarantining the show animals when you get back, much as you do when you add new animals to your collection.
As Meme and others have said - the show is fun, but the after parties each night are the REAL reason to go to Daytona!
As much as I'd love to have a huge show in Atlanta, no vendor can sell non-venomous indigenous snakes to Georgia, so that pretty much elminates any corn vendors. The GA Herp Society puts on a pretty decent little show each year locally for those who are here in metro Atlanta.
-
Re: Daytona 08, is it true?
Oh, and I think that Brian (BHB) is still going to be vending - he and I were "talking" on ReptileGeeks yesterday and he asked me to stop by his table and introduce myself.
