Federal > State.

Well, I know fed > state, but in this case, you can either marry or you can't, and there are same sex couples here that have gotten married. In any case though, I don't know if this will stay legal forever, since there are a lot of people always trying to reverse it.

Re: Calling all Mothers
For the record, California only has legal Medical Marijiuana. Not street stuff... You can't just buy it anywhere, you have to have a permit.

Re: Calling all Mothers
Yes, a state can legalize gay marriage, but once your out of state, you are no longer married. As in other states do not have to honor it because the federal stance is it is not legal to marry same sex. Confusing stuff, but that's why people rush to certain states to get married for those reasons...

I think you meant to say that medical marijuana is legal in California. Medical marijuana is also legal in Arkansas, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
While Federal law might trump state law, I'd surely rather follow my state law given the disarray (to put it mildly) of the Federal gov't.

Or you could move to: New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, California, New Hampshire, Oregon, Washington. All of these states have rights for same sex marriage or partnership.
Or you could move to any of these nations: Canada, Belgium, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary,
Iceland, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland).
So, really, as a same sex couple, you have many choices globally and some choices in this country.

Re: Calling all Mothers
I talked to my mother again and she said that I could get the majority of all the medical stuff pre-pregnancy and even the donor stuff done for free since she works for a gyno. I think she really wants a grandchild because she was saying I could get pregnant this summer. hehe.
My fiance and I have been discussing when we want to do this and the effect it will have on our lives, school, jobs, animals, ect. We will continue to have these discussions until we decide when we want to get pregnant.
I know its not my biological clock whispering things in my ear because I've been having a constant urge for a long while. Only now am I really starting to think of it as a possibility. I will let you all know with what I decide. Thanks for all your help and I'll keep you posted. :D:P

Re: Calling all Mothers
Dont forget about Canada! Sure its chilly sometimes, but....its not that bad...haha. Im actually not too sure how difficult it would be to do all the legal work to move here but I would assume you start off with a visa then apply for dual citizenship. I don`t know too much about it so if anyone corrects me I wont be offended:)
At least you wouldnt have to sell ALL of your possesions to move because your not going across the ocean.

Re: Calling all Mothers
Canada is always an option but I think it would be better if the child could be around family. Family is important to me and I want the child to know his/her grandparents and in my case, great-grandparents since my grandmother will be around to see her great-granddaughter or great-grandson. I am hoping to bring the subject up to her soon and see her reaction to the idea. I think she would be shocked and then be excited.
