Re: Parthenogenesis?? I Hope So!!
Hey guys, sorry its been a while, my computer is down & I hafta get on when I can at whoevers house I'm at!! :(
Anyways....we are coming down the homestretch, the eggs were laid on June the 28th & it looks like there are 4 or 5 good eggs left. Since I fed mom she hasn't left the nest so thats what I got from what I could see. I did get my Johnson Controls T-Stat, so when I go on vacation I will have peace of mind. My son will be watching over things while I'm gone & I will be calling everyday. I will be back on Aug. 31, So if maternaly incubated eggs take longer to hatch then I might make it home in time, if not I have written a list for my son of what to do. My son is 18 & is very much into all that is happening & I have him in the habit of looking in on her several times a day even when I'm home, so I'm not too worried. He has all the supplies & extras that he will need for the babies if they do come while Im gone, but I hope they wait for me!!!
And don't worry guys, there will be pics galore when they arrive!!!!
Thanks for your support everyone!!!

4 more days till she comes back :D
I'm really curious as to how those eggs are...
Re: Parthenogenesis?? I Hope So!!
Hey guys....I am back & don't have good news to report.
While I do know now for sure that the eggs were fertile I also know that next time I will incubate.....there was a fully formed baby in one egg but it seemed to have dried out...the other still had fluid in it but the baby was not fully formed and died the others were flat and gone. :(
I am so bummed out.....and I did not take any pics of the whole mess. When I got home my bedroom smelled really bad, when I cut the eggs open it was even worse and my camera batteries were dead from vacation...I was so upset I disposed of them right quick. I had my t-stat set there were no failures, temps and humidity were optimum the whole time I was gone, I'm thinking that maybe some kind of bugs got in there & sucked all the fluids outta my eggs?
I really hope she lays again next year because I am ready to incubate if she does.
That was a bad day, on the way home from HHI, SC. I hit & killed a deer.
And my computer is still down so it may be a few days before I can get back here to answer any questions.
Sorry for the bad news. :(
Re: Parthenogenesis?? I Hope So!!
Sorry to hear they didn't make it. In my opinion incubators are the only way to go. It's better for the eggs and the snake.
