While I don't like the cats on my property, I won't shoot them. I have always returned the ones that don't mind being picked up.

Yes cats bring joy, we have one too! LOL

No problem Scott.....like I said in my edited post (see above).......we all make phrasing errors on here.....

I also am not for censorship.....I didnt really think of how a cat could be a problem for herps before this thread came up. In the end, I hope the Positive and more cerebral parts of this discussion are the ones that shine through. :sunny:

Ok guys I give up. this is my last post here on this topic. I have never hurt the dog or any other animal, hell I don't even hunt. The paint ball gun was one of many ways I have used to keep the dog out of my yard and out of my carport. If you read I also said that the hose worked better. Its my prayer that those people who tend to take the passive way of dealing with dangerous events never have to chose between the phyical comfort of an aggressive dangerious animal on there properity and their children and familys safty and well being.

I would hope so too, things can get a little outta hand. Sometimes things get said in the heat of the moment or they come out kinda wrong or get interpreted wrongly.

All apart of forum life I guess!

If the dog is being aggressive and threatening then you have every right to defend yourself and your family. If it is in the carport catching some shade and not posing a threat to anyone then there is no real reason to shoot at it with a paintball gun. If the dog runs loose on a regular basis then it shouldn't be too hard to have it trapped and removed by the local authorities. Obviously the owner doesn't care too much about it because they let it roam. It's just that when people start taking things into their own hands things tend to start getting out of control.

I too, hate cats for the same reason as Sputnik. I understand that cats are carnivores and it is in their nature to kill smaller animals. HOWEVER, it is ILLEGAL in most residential areas to let your cats roam. The same rules apply to cats (in most areas) as dogs. In fact, this rule usually applies to ALL companion animals. If the animal is off the owner's property without a leash or close supervision, it is usually a misdemenor offense if the animal owner is legally reprimanded... and in some cases it constitutes ANIMAL CRUELTY charges.

So here is my statement to all of those roaming-cat-owners and sympathizers: Keep your cats out of my yard. Once it trespasses into my territory, I can do whatever I want (shy of maiming it) to keep it from coming back. It has been a problem with me in the past. And yes, I will call Animal Control and have the cat impounded. I've done it before, I'll do it again.

Oh, and since it was illegal to fire a paint gun in city limits, I usually hit them with the lowest setting on the pressure washer.

Hey I love just about all animals. If you loved crickets, you could say you hate lizards, think about it.
