Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
I have paid up to £90.00 ( $167.00 ) for a hatchling here in the UK. Since I started breeding I generally trade with another breeder to maintain non related breeding stock.
I dont mind paying a high price at times as long as its a healthy animal , I think pricing too low can sometimes attract the wrong attention in that practically anyone can buy them which to my mind can be detremental and detract from serious owners.........not always but sometimes.
I would like to see the price a bit higher personally to reduce the "buy on whim" impulse buying. If they were a bit more competatively priced then perhaps we see a reduction in poor snake keeping due to it was only $20.00 so I thought why not brigade.
By the way I am not saying anyone on here is in that category , I just happen to think like many other pets that end up unwanted or uncared for that more challenging pricing can aid the animal welfare in the long run by encouraging mainly people who really want one.
It is quite amazing to see the variance in cost for these amazing animals from 1 country to another.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
Zahra, my first, was 60, and Pharoah was 70. The shops around here are currently asking 89.95 for hatchlings.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
I only have two normals, but I paid $350 for them together. They are both females and weighed 1350g and 850g at the time of purchase. The larger girl is my pride and joy. For a normal she is absolutely beautiful and has the best temperment of any snake I own.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
I paid £85 (about $158) for Byron my normal Royal and he's worth every penny. In fact, to me he's priceless.
My other Royal, Bobby (equally priceless) was a rescue so I gave the rescuers a £50 donation to help keep the fantastic work they do going:D

How very true that is. I have two rescue snakes, one a Royal, the other a Cornsnake. I also have a "nearly rescue" - my Kingsnake. Almost bought by an obnoxious brat and his over-indulgent mother as a Christmas present. They knew nothing about snakes and the kid struck me as the type who would have tired of the snake very quickly and it would have been got rid of, not only that, but this kid was very loud and boisterous. He and his two sisters were arguing about who would hold the snake when they got it. I had a horrible vision of the poor snake being pulled between them all and getting killed in the process. As soon as these people left the shop I bought the snake there and then. Suffice to say Sammy is a very happy snake who's loved to bits. We thought it was a male but it turned out to be a female - we found out when she laid eggs, which were sterile, so it's really Samantha:D I am on the lookout for a nice male for her but I'd worry about any possible offspring going to a good home.
What do others do when they have to find homes for baby snakes to make sure they are going to a good home? (and yes, I would be prepared to inspect a home and set-up first).

Issa was $50 as an unsexed CB baby from the chicago reptile house.
Nyoka was free, as I'd just bought a female pastel from the guy.
Princess was about $300, considering she was breedable.
I've seen baby balls as low as $15.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
My first one was $150 w/the adult female snake and complete setup. Then Pissy was $100 at the first herp sale I went to, for just him. He was a striped, but not genetically striped. Snoopy was $100 and was supposed to be for just her, but the lady selling her gave me the tank, hotrock, bowl (no hides :( ) setup for free. Freddie was a rescue, free w/the entire setup included, probed to be female. Precious and Zeus were 2/3 snakes that I bought for a total of $250 for all 3.
The rest of our snakes are diff. species....corn, RTB, Stimson's, KSB.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
My girl, Biggie Smalls, I got at a show for $15. While buying her some lunch one day at a local pet store I stumbled accross a beautiful yearling male. He was pet store price, $59.99. He was much lighter than the rest of his tank-mates and had a bright yellow blush on the sides of his tummy. He was too sweet and pretty to resist, so I brought him home with me!

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
We're paying $85 at a local pet store for ours. We don't know the sex yet, but the snake lady there is going to probe it before us before we bring it home. For our first, I'm more than willing to pay a bit extra for one that's healthy, CB, and an established eater.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
I just bought my son's at a Reptile Show 3 weeks ago and only paid $15.00 for it.
Before you ask, ... YES it's a CB 2006 male, YES it was from a very reputable breeder/dealer that frequents this particular show, and YES it's eating quite well.
It (reptile show) was HIGHLY recommended to me from a friend in the snake hobby to buy from a Reptile Show rather than buy one a chain pet store. I have to agree after having experienced this first hand. I also HIGHLY recommend to you folks as well. Do your home work and research where the next Reptile Show is in your area and pay them a visit. You'll be amazed at the mark-up on Reptiles & Amphibians.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
I paid $150 for a nice, captive bred, well-started female hatchling from 8 Ball Pythons. With that Adam also threw in about 50-60 rats pinks and pups. I bought her in September and didn't need to get new feeders for her for quite some time. In fact, I've had her nearly year and I've only had to buy feeders one time (also from Adam). I'm due to get some more rats from him in the next week or so.

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
"All of my normal are either from co-dom breedlings or normals out of het breedings. Some are possible het for various morphs but I just sell them off as normals, nice little bonus! The simplistic setup has a water dish, hide box, 10gal, 10gal top, a heat source, and eco-earth substrate. Everything would be $150, I have many expensive morphs and don't usually allow people into my home. I would however bring the offspring inside the 10gal enclosure that it currently lives in."
I am looking to get my first snake, and I'm not at all interested in breeding in the future...Is this a good deal? Or should I keep looking? This is, by the way, some correspondence that I've had with a local breeder here in Columbus, Ohio. Thanks!!!

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
I bought Fluffy at the New York Reptile Expo for $25. The vendor even gave me his feeding card. That was a big selling point to me. He was hatched on 6/10/06 so he was exactly three months old when I bought him. See:

Re: Price you payed for your NORMAL BP...
Well, I bought a little high gold female from a breeder friend of mine. She wasn't eating, and was really, really skinny, so he let me have her for $1500.00 .
Wait... maybe the 1500 was for the spider male he threw in. I'll have to ask him....
;)
Honestly, he pulled the refused mouse out of her tub, and said, "I'll make you a really good deal on this one." I could see that she was absolutely beautiful (although skinny), so I asked, "How much?" "$10." I dug out a ten dollar bill, and he stuck it in his pocket, and put the snake in a deli cup. A little later, he gave me the $10 back. So, rather than most I've paid, its the least I've paid, $0. The most I've paid for a normal is for a 2kg female, $150.
