how do i get my boa big fast without herting it

i see what you ppl are geting at i hade that thing for 6 months i know what im doing i hade my ball pythons for like a year now in yes im geting a new boa this weekin

Hopefully you'll set up a proper cage for it at least; like the others said, you can't establish the right thermal gradient in that tank. I would get the setup all down pat and your temps spot-on before even thinking of buying!

If you are planning on getting another boa soon. Please make sure it is from a reputable breeder and is healthy. Also, before you get one you should really get a proper setup completed and established before you get the snake. You want the temps stable and the humidity stable before you bring the boa home.

Do your self a favor my man and wait a while to get another snake. Wait a while, research and get the cage set up before you get anything else. Like Gus from Rio Bravo Reptiles says "When you put an animal in a cage you are 100% responsible for it" and bringing another animal home at this point would be a bad idea. Find out how your boa died and correct that husbandry error before trying it again. I don't mean to come off as an ass but if your snake died, there has to be a reason and I don't like to see animals suffer. Bringing in another boa without finding out why the last one died like I already said is a BAD idea!! It could have been something contagious, do you really want to risk exposing another snake to that unknown??? Probably not

I never said anyone was trolling. I was more curious if we werent helpful enough, or we made them feel bad for asking the question so they ended it by saying it had died, or if it had really died...

I guess I need to be a bit more clear in my replies :)

PS And yes, I could have probably just refrained, since I had nothing helpful to add, but I was just curious :(

A freak accident? Not a likely cause for a sudden death. What is the name of the breeder? I am betting there is something you did wrong husbandry wise. Boas arent as forgiving when you make mistakes like balls are. A day or 2 with the temps to low and you could have a boa with a bad respritory infection while a ball would more than likely be fine. Please just take the advice we gave you and wait. Next time you get a snake and it dies people aren't going to be helpful and give advice like this. If you just put it off for a while, you are likely to be better off as well as the snake you get next. I will be glad to give you some tips on getting a cheap yet affective cage set up if it will help you. I want what is best for the animals no matter what. Maybe there is contagion in the tank? If your first boa was ill and died, then there could be something still in the tank that can make your new snake sick.


Wait, sanitize and REAAAAALLY disinfect your tank, get the temp and humidity stable and in the right ranges, then go get a new friend.

i just realized that this thred is still going on. i think from this point on you just need to read the care sheets front to back. ask a ton of questions. post all the pics your camera will take. and wait a few before jumping right back in to the fire.

I for one thing cant spell to save my life. I use a writing program on the computer with spell check. unless I'm in a hurry. Fatal try useing the writing program on your computer. that could really help you and us. we would get more of what you were saying and could possably help you better. I know how it is not being able to spell that well. and haveing very bad dislexya(sp?) on top of it. I just type out what I want to say on the writing program and then after the spell check I paste in on the forum. hope that helps with the spelling issue. :hug:

i'm a little confused. you say you are looking for information and then whenever anyone gives you any you say you already know the answers and are doing everything right. :P

if you want information then perhaps writing a longer post, which better explains the situation would be beneficial. we all would love to assist you, in any way we can, so your next snake will be healthy and happy in it's new home as your pet.

Please just take peoples' advice and buy a bigger tank. Then go about establishing your temps and everything before even thinking of going and shopping for a snake. No animal deserves to live in incorrect housing where it can't even thermoregulate.

Great Idea!!! +1 point! Don't leave anything out/tell anything different. There is a reason why it died and if you want help from us, you need to take it seriously. We are here to help but since something in your story doesn't add up, we can't help you.
