Okay, It won't let me post the author's last name, but it is the German word for "fat" or "thick"
Getting back to Samurai movies, what movie was Sergio Leone's "A Fistfull of Dollars" based on?

I can't think of the name of it. It was the one with Tom Cruise right?
Total Recall was also based on a PKD story.

You're on the right track, but he's done two movies recently based on famous author's works.
And they both had the same director, and neither did particularly well at the box office.

Re: Name that movie (off-off-topic)
Minority Report, I believe is the movie. I thought of it on my way home from work.
-
Re: Name that movie (off-off-topic)
You are correct! The other one was "War of the Worlds". Both directed by Steven Spielberg.

Re: Name that movie (off-off-topic)
Okay, let's change gears a bit. John Carpenter got the idea for "Assault on Precinct 13" from which classic John Ford western?
Hint: It starred John Wayne

No, a very good guess, but incorrect. I will give you another hint:

Now that you mention it, I thought there was supposed to be a movie made from "A Scanner Darkly".....but I don't recall it ever being released.

Yup, Eli Wallach is correct.
Incidentally, the John Ford movie I was talking about earlier was Rio Bravo. Many years ago I saw an interview with John Carpenter and he said it was his inspiration for Assault on Precinct 13
