My gf and I picked up some odd candy a week ago. She picked Turkish Delight, and I picked Korivka Roshen (milky sweets).

-The Turkish delight came in *4* flavors: Mint, Rose, Orange and Lemon. I thought the Orange and Lemon ones weren't too bad, but, the Mint and Rose ones were brutal.
They all smelled like soap...regardless my gf was dedicated to finding a raspberry one (because they showed one on the cover)---there were only rose-flavored and I had to watch her choke repeatedly when she tested each red one lol.

Apparently the Korivka Roshen is the prefered choice-only 1 piece left @24hrs.

Update: It has been 7 days now and the Turkish delight have been reduced about 75%, but, still remain.

Call me boring, but when I want candy, I return to what I know I love- :D (See's custom-packed box)

I'm on the East Coast and See's Candy is largely unheard of... Many years ago-I had a sales rep. from California give me a See's Gift Basket for letting him give my group a sales pitch on a $140K chemistry analyzer. I brought the gift basket home and as soon as my gf and I tried it: we were hooked. I bought candy from them for a long time before the prices became prohibitive. Now I have to be the first to check the mail so I can toss the seasonal See's Candy brochures before my gf spots them...I'd rather not spend a few hundred bucks on chocolates...:)

In other news: One of my friends said I inspired him to take up body-building for his New Years Resolution lololol (brutal)... He texted me the other day and said he had been steadily working out at the gym and was sore all the time and wasn't gaining any muscle. I asked him how much protein he was eating/day and he said he drank two protein drinks/day (40g/each) and then ate 'normally' the rest of the time. He weighs about 160lbs, and I figure he is probably taking in about 160 grams/day...so I told him that 1g/lb. of body weight should be absolutely fine. I mentioned that if he was doing intense workouts that he might want to add a bit more.

He wanted to know which protein powder I use, and I blew his mind when I told him I don't use protein powder.
He didn't believe me, so I sent him this picture of my breakfast.

A lot of the videos are quite long...I was not expecting my gf to find them interesting, but, she started watching them with me....
We frequent a lot of places where there are antiques, and with information provided by the author of the videos: I started to learn about identifying old bottles based on shape and design.
Not to be outdone...my gf started researching vintage glassware, and as such: I have indirectly created a monster...I've had to drive her to every antique store within a 50 miles radius over the last two weeks so she can examine all the different types and styles of vintage glass...lol...

While on the topic of glassware and digging things up: I found this wine bottle at an antique market that someone dug up in their yard and put up for sale:

I thought it looked pretty old, but, I wasn't interesting in buying it. My gf insisted I pay the $3 and examine it closer at home...ok....
I still haven't figured out the time period yet, but, the glass is heavily imperfect (gritty + lots of air bubbles), and the stem is bent about 15 degrees off-center. Some of the air bubbles are so large that they could have easily ruined the mold. This would suggest a sizeable level of attrition during production... For comparison: I was at another antique store today and they had rows and rows of green wine bottles that were nearly identical to mine (without the big kick-up in the bottom). The bottles I saw today were in almost perfect condition from the 1910's-they had very little air bubbles and were almost perfect in shape...this would indicate that there had been significant improvements to the production process...

What did I buy?
I bought a big orange Carnival Glazed Imperial Glass Pitcher for $17 (good price), and 5 UV reactive marbles (3 Uranium, 1 Cadmium, and 1 Cerium-$1/ea).
I must have looked like a weirdo digging through the vintage marble jar with my UV torch lol...

My gf saw a rare glass item that she *really wanted*, but, the price was a small fortune. We spent like 15 minutes on our smartphones trying to figure out if the cost was reasonable. Other customers noticed that we were pretty intent about something...and they 'nonchalantly' surrounded us and were trying to sneak a peek at our phones to see what we were researching. One nosey woman was actually bold enough to reach over and try to twist my phone so she could look at my screen. This irritated me and I verbally snapped at her and told her to 'mind your own business'-and she scurried away... In the end I decided it was not a bargain, but, reasonably priced for a once in a lifetime rare find (in-person). My gf told me not to, but, of course I bought it for her. :)

At checkout the woman offered me a 10% discount on the expensive item if I paid cash...and who could turn that down? This was the first store we visited and I had $2.43 left in my wallet for the rest of the day lol...
I won't tell you what I bought her-because she already posted it everywhere in the glass forums. She is not as good at keeping her identity a secret as I am. ;)

Sorry its been a bit since the last message! I have only started breeding mice in 2024 so I don't think we have spoken because I never have offered to sell until these past few months. It took me forever to get the mice to consistently breed, figure out any illnesses (mites), and ensure they have a low mortality rate from birth (cannibalism + terrible mothers that needed to be culled & specific food). I'm sorry you had a bad experience with terrible pricing from someone else. I am super flexible about it but like to recoup costs where I can because the food to keep everything smooth is around 50$ per bag + our ventilated setup with our land lord was a must. I have a ventilated setup for the mice home made, vet care, etc. Since you breed then I'm sure you know about the associated costs to do it right and ethically. Setup for 12 females to breed all on a metal rack in an attic with great results. No matter what I do; this setup is a loss of money! I would prefer to sell and recoup but pricing is not really a concern where there are too many mice.

Originally, my goal was to charge close to a store and undercut Jabberwock reptiles because they are somewhat inconvenient to get to in the area due to their store times. Often during the summer they run out of pinkies. Undercutting them didn't go very well when we went to Facebook because people wanted adult mice and we needed pinkies for our baby Kenyan sand boas! So I started selling around less than 3$ for live adult mice. Even Facebook was difficult to find an audience too. I would rather find a group of friends to help with the overpopulation and recoup costs. Facebook is still too shaky to sell on b/c there are no consistent buyers from the area. They are coming in from Springfield Mass which is way t0o far when posts clearly stated around Peabody, Middleton, Danvers, Salem only. It was nice to get feedback though!!! I almost wanted to Uber them. I usually tell folks if they want frozen to buy a pack online because its cheaper than any live mouse they will ever get and I wont deprive picky snakes from local live food IMO. (Also its like a deliver locally service I guess so I don't want to go far.)

As for images!
I mostly have white mice, grey mice, and white mice with a dusty gray nose/tipped ears. Posted is the mother to all the variants. She is our only brown white bellied mouse. And then two of her daughters. The rest are lab mice white. Kind of boring I know compared. I host a website to sell as well (obv I won't post here and it needs adjustments anyways on costing after feedback).

Cool! The last guy I spoke with in our area had sent me pics of four full freezers of dead animals. I say animals because only ~75% of them were rodents. He wanted $5/frozen mouse, and a bag of 50 for $200 (cha-ching!).

$50/50lb. bag of rodent food is what I would expect to pay in our area. I use Choice Chops chicken dog food at Tractor Supply ~$30/50lbs. The Choice Chops dog food does not have the dried yucca in it (like Mazuri)-so the ammonia levels are noticeably worse than they would be otherwise. I have an extensive custom ventilation system in my house as well...gotta do it-if you don't like breathing ammonia...currently at ~60 breeding trios of mice here.

Those are indeed nice looking mice you have, but, yeah, I was looking for something a bit 'fancier'. I had an opportunity at one point to buy some really neat color variations from a small pet store in Fitchburg MA, but, I could tell by the shape of their abdomens that they were all terribly sick. I have not added any new mice to my breeding population in over 10 years.

As for Jabberwock reptiles: I have not visited them in many years. I was a regular customer when they were located in Woburn, but, when they moved to Stoneham I had several negative experiences with buying brand new UV bulbs only to get them home and find out that they had been clearly used and repackaged. I tested these bulbs with my UV Meter to confirm-and found they were only emitting 10-20% of the specified UV output. At the time: they would not accept returns on bulbs-yeah, I bet...

And not sure if you have reptiles, but, if you want some/more: Don't forget there is the New England Reptile Expo in Manchester NH this Sunday 02FEB2025. :)

Well this is pretty wild and honestly I have not run across this issue before. It must be something going wrong with Tapatalk, because there is no way that you could be logged in as a different user while using your own credentials directly through this site. Tapatalk has some weird issues from time to time.

4 days ago I was cleaning my rodents, and while I was moving one of my mice-I had a bad muscle cramp in my arm. I ended up dropping the mouse and he immediately fled into a tiny gap in the wall.
I saw no trace of him until yesterday-when I noticed something had uprooted one of my gfs orchids in her frog room and chewed most of the roots off of it (making a huge mess).
The loose mouse also *climbed* up to the top of a large aloe plant and ate most of a *dried leaf*.
There was a mouse trap with peanut butter literally two feet away that was ignored, and I know he had to have passed several other traps on the way...

Last night I got up to use the bathroom and heard the mouse in the bathroom radiator.
I let my two cats in the room and I could hear the mouse scrambling around-dodging their paws as they tried to dig it out.
It was early in the morning-so I left the cats continue their efforts while I returned to sleep.

When I got up later this morning-I assumed the cats had killed the mouse, but I saw no indicator of success.
As soon as I got downstairs I saw the two cats sleeping in their beds and the mouse (unscathed) was *there* slowly sneaking past them-inches away from both cats.
I whispered to the cats and one opened an eye and immediately struck-and missed! The mouse immediately ran under the kitchen refrigerator.

My silver cat sat in front of the refrigerator all day and periodically fell asleep while poised to strike.
At sunset the mouse came out and was killed instantly.

I'm just amazed that the mouse managed to survive for 4 days in my house...it had zero interest in any of my traditional traps...and would rather eat orchid roots and dried aloe leaves rather than peanut butter...never would have guessed it...:rolleyes:

What an ordeal, L. S. I'm glad your mouse is no longer running amuck & savaging your plants. :D That was very rude of him to reject your thoughtful peanut butter snacks.

I'm also glad I stopped breeding mice- I sure don't miss all the work. I'll never forget when one of my mice accidentally got out. Not a bit like yours, though. I found him on top of his home cage, wanting back in to be with his friends & family! :rofl:"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose..."

It's February, about 20ish outside, snowed over night and I woke up to my first spider of the year. A brown one, kind of fat if you ask me. Just hangin' out on the ceiling as if he owned the place. Makes me wonder where he could have been living, and does one mean twenty more!

What a palaver !!

We had a similar incident but with a flamin’ squirrel who got into our house via the attic/ loft

Sooooo me and our Italian Greyhound ( miniature greyhound) chased him around the house for a few minutes then he sought sanctuary behind a radiator near the front door .

I sat for an hour with the door open hoping it would make a run it but to no avail ..

Eventually I got a bendy branch and poked it around till he dashed to freedom squealing as he went ..

I thought the wax plate was pretty interesting. I have not seen anything like it before. It was quite large and heavy-smelled vaguely of honey.
I looked up Fulda Dom and discovered it is a cathedral in Germany. This plate was some sort of souvenir. You learn something new every day...:)

Zincubus, I made an edit to the MichPlat account to see if that will do anything to keep Taptalk from logging you in as them. I don't necessarily think it will help since this issue is happening on on Tapatalk's end, but it's worth a shot. If that doesn't work, I can disable the account and see if that makes it so that Tapatalk cannot log you in as them. Hopefully that doesn't block you from getting on here at all though.

I would encourage you to change your Tapatalk password. Then log out and log back in with the new password and see if that helps.

I've still been on the hunt with my gf for specific vintage glass she has been collecting.
Every now and then we run into an antique store that has a particular theme.
One of them recently had a taxidermy/bad taxidermy mortality/gothic theme.
Customers in this store were *super* weird. First time my gf and I have been there-so I'm hoping we don't count. :)
