Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Ohh man I would so love to go hang out with Adam!
*looking into future calender events for our life and wondering if/when it would ever be possible*
It would be so much fun if we could pick a place and a bunch of us make it there for a little bp.net fun! :stereo: :hungry: AND DRINKS! Lots for all!

Anytime Jeanne ... we ALWAYS have a good time! If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods your and your family are welcome. Tour of the place, dinner, drinks, rolling around Baltimores Inner Harbor at 3am looking for the car keys that I dropped in the street ... I'm game for anything. :D
For bp.net fun and DRINKS, Daytona is the biggest herper party of the year ... I'm down for putting something together that weekend ... Then there's Chicago, or San Antonio, I'll be at both this year .... And lastly, there's always the Mid-Atlantic show ... traditionally not know for any serious partying, but I'm into turning it out!! :devilish:

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Well dangnabbit!!!!! What about us poor yahoots on the WEST coast??!??? I wanna goooooooo. :sniff:
Fantastic Daughter Robin is a passion of mine. She's going to be 13 on the 30th, but is pushing 60. Our divorce has been a b***h for her, but she's been a real trooper!!! She is such a BLESSING in my life, and I am so thankful for her presence and love!!
Snakes, snakes, and snakes!! I can always use more balls!! Now that I'm hooked, I want to keep adding on. I'm looking and still looking some more in order to find the RIGHT one, so I can start buying my albino and a pied. I have my eye on a saaaah-weeeeeeet little pastel boa. When they get a little bigger, I'm making a nab for her/him!
Horses and RODEO!!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAH! I'd been riding since I was 3 and always had a horse, until my marriage. I kept all my gear, and now I've got 'em again...in spades!! Instead of just one retired one, my gelding from many years ago 4-H, I now have a total of FIVE of the darn things!! and only two are rideable. But I love 'em all dearly, and just keep feeding, grooming and riding the two we can. One is my daughter's new little Arab mare, but they're both green and need miles. With Robin with me only every other week, it will take time, but it will happen. I'm getting back into the swing with the rodeo. My (now) ex didn't like it, so over 16 years I ended up giving up part of ME, not realizing how much I missed it, but I'm getting back to the heart of who I am.
I miss my cattle, but since I don't have land yet, they'll have to wait.
My cats and dog, and animals in general. Our rats are becoming spoiled rotten pets. hahahahah
Movies, books, music. I keep adding to the over 400 CDs, 100+ DVDs and I stopped counting the books. I have authors that I collect their books because I enjoy their writing. Singing and playing woodwinds, while not as strong a passion anymore, I've tried to keep up with it.
Egyptology--- Tut and Cleopatra in particular are serious interests of mine. I've got all sorts of books, color plates, materials on the subjects. I've got Howard Carter's journals and writings about the dig that I picked up at Powell's Books in Portland.
The artist Bev Doolittle is just fascinating! I have a bunch of her books with color plates, and hope to some day eventually be able to afford one of her LIMITED EDITION lithographs.

Hey, easy now!! I was serfectly Pober in all of those honeymoon pictures!! I did kinda drink like a woman on the honeymoon but ya gotta give me a break, brides aren't the only ones that starve themselves for weeks leading up to the wedding!! I guarentee I can hang with the big dogs. One rule though: THE WHISKEY STAYS BEHIND THE BAR!!
While I didn't drink much on the honeymoon, I can make this claim for my people and I: We put down 10 bottles of champagne and a 12 pack of beer on the limo ride from the church to the reception!!

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Well lets see ...
Im 30 and have ADD so pretty much any downer.
Nicotine ... yes im a hillbilly and chew tobacco.
Caffeine ... nearly a gallon of soda a day (thats 8 cans, or 4 16oz, or 2 1 liters).
Alcohol ... on the weekends either Whiskey or Bud Light (trying to watch my figure) My family goes through 4-5 cases a night (gets a little spendy).
Making fun of stupid people ... I try to restrain myself on the boards.
Doing collections ... nothing like getting paid to be a (insert word here)
Talking to customer "care" representatives ... by the time I call I am severly upset (Im often asked to call on behalf of friends and family members).
The above listed items I go out of my way to do (I assume thats the meaning of passions).
The only thing I know Im addicted to is Copenhagen.
My new med has pretty much wiped out most of my passions havent even drank in 4 months.
Everything else I do is just fun ... that includes my job (Federal employee).

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Mr Python, I have researched your gun you mentioned. It is an air gun and will go fo about $150 in real good shape.

There are some links you may find interesting. I think that would be a bteer gun to hold on to though. I would do my best to keep it functional and clean. You're a lucky little boy to have such a fine little weapon.

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Hi all,
Nice thread you got going here....
My addictions are: (in no specific order)
Reptiles, amphibianms and arachnids...
Conservation, and education... and I live for animal cruelty cases,,, (sad to say) court following said cases.
Mountain biking...thats a biggie when I'm feeling better...
Tattoos, Winslow's peircings (If anyone is into it let me know I'll post some shots, He has some nice surface)
Swimming, big into anything in the wild with water.
Hiking, climbing (nothing fancy just free climb)
Fish keeping has been growing on me with this new job, aquascaping too.
and of course above all else being with my boys. The oppertunity to be Griffins mom, and Winslows wife is the best thing in the world for me.
I'm sure I'll add more in later when I'm more awake.
Thanks everyone
Rusty

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
OK... Let's see... Where do I start.
I'm addicted to my kids. Though the need for attention is quite broad (11, 9, 3 and 8mos.) I just can't get enough delight in watching them grow.
I'm addicted to my wife. Considering she is letting me collect the herps again I guess I'll bump here up to the #2 spot;) LOL.
I'm also addicted to anything that has to do with computing / circuits. You know, I was that kid at home who took things apart but never put them back together just right.
I have a passion for reptiles. I recall many moons ago when I was banned (by my own family, mind you) from seeing those animal TV stations because I would call out the herp before the announcer would. Till this day I am still not allowed to see these shows even at my in-laws house, sheeeesh:rolleyes: LOL.
and finally... I'm very passionate about my country and what it stands for (not what the person in charge thinks it stands for). I spent some years under Uncle Sams auspices there for I believe in the troops but not the motives.
Cool thread.:)...
-
Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Heh.. interesting thread.
I would say I'm not addicted to anything... but I imagine my wife would dissagree.
I'm addicted to power tools, country music, aquatic plants, my puppy, acting, blacksmithing, 4x4'ing, grease, and mud.
The more challenging, the more interesting it becomes.

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
Wow! Here are some of the things I would die without:
My ATV. There are few things in this world that give me the rush I get when I am flying thruogh a field at 50 mph on this damn thing. My job is extreeeemely stressful, and I NEED an outlet for all that stress. Although, now that there's snow on the ground, all I can really do is spin around on the ice, but that's fun too!
My horses. These are the one thing I have wanted since I was a kid. See, I used to go over to my dad's rich friends' house, and ride/care for their horses. I figured I would be poor all my life and never get them; then I realized, hey, even poor people can have horses if they're willing to work their butts off caring for them themselves! These two are really like children, to me and my boyfriend.
Emma is our greenie mare; she needs a TON of miles on her. Cuesta is an old trail mare, ridden by ten year olds last summer at camp; I bet my gramma could ride her! They're both unteg. Paints.
My pets! Of course.. I have an absolute obsession with fancy/weird/mutant goldfish. I have about 10 telescope eyes and a few lionheads and koi. I have a 125g tank devoted to them; who else can say that? :)
Hm.. what else could I not live without...? I love candles/incense/etc. I just got a tealight warmer and it is the coolest little thing in the world; I love making the house smell like strawberries. I also collect weird natural objects, such as antlers, rocks, crystals, and skulls. I am also obsessed with Breyer model horse collecting. I love hiking and the outdoors too; I would crinkle up and die if I had to live in the city where I could not do these things. I like shooting; I have a .22 rifle and I do target shootin off the back porch!
I am also an aspiring artist; I will never claim to be a pro, and I don't do it to make a living, but it is my oldest and best hobby.

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
What a great thread and a wonderful way to get to know some of you outside of our shared interest in snakes, lizards, spiders, etc. Thanks for starting it recycling goddess!
Well addictions first.....worst one...smoking! How I wish I'd never started smoking all those years ago but secretly part of me actually enjoys it. Terrible thing to admit! I don't drink much, nor well (which if you don't drink well it's a good thing to not do it often lemme tell ya it's not a pretty sight!) :weirdface I'm probably a bit of a control freak if I'm being honest and yes it does drive my family nuts when I'm into organizing everybody (but honestly sometimes I dispair of them ever getting ready at the same time to go anywhere! LOL) I think Sherman moved the troops far easier than me trying to get this family out the door, at the same time, without forgetting anything and not having a major melt-down!
Passions....well my family first. Being a divorced and remarried woman, doing the blended family/shared custody thing isn't always easy but I was blessed with a wonderful bunch of human beings to give birth to and watch them grow up into unique individuals. Obvious passion...respecting your kids and not owning them....to me they are gifts not possessions or extensions of me.
I've always been passionate about the human condition, human rights, but ultimately....fairness. Want to see me get mad....treat someone unfairly....be a bully...pick on someone...watch someone suffer because of government mismanagement...laws that make no sense....businesses that care about the bottom line more than the employees...people that love possessions more than other people....stuff like that drives me wild and in some basic way confuse and sadden me. I love to understand the dynamics of a situation and if you ask my husband, I over-analysis EVERYTHING! lol I'm an odd mix I guess of snarky witch and naive kid all rolled up into a 44 year old mother of 4 with a very enquiring mind (did I mention my addiction to googling everything!) LOL
Ball pythons, and other snakes, have become a wonderful family passion/hobby. It's wonderful to share it with my husband, Mike and he's a fantastic guy to work so hard to support this hobby financially. It's great to see our kids enjoy a hobby with the parental units where we can all learn and grow together.
Accckkkk enough babbling! I swear I should have said talking too much is my most major addiction LOL. Oh well I guess I'm not planning to go gently into the darkness one day with anything left unsaid :P

wow, definitely not many!!! that's a nice sized tank and most people see goldfish as a "dumb stupid animal" - i'm pleased to know you! :blowkiss: (she says as she converts on of her tanks to salt this weekend)

Re: what are your passions/addictions?
My first addiction is my daughter(1 yr old) and my new baby on the way(due July). I always wanted to a be mom and I can say its the most rewarding job in the world for me.
Animals is my next addiction. I used to have 2 igunas, 2dogs, 2 rats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 diff fish tanks, 2 ferrets, but due to circumstances unable to prevent I am down to 2 ferrets, 1 dog, and my newly go ball.
Caffine is a big one. If I dont have soda (3 at least) every day I get a migraine.
My fiance is another big one
the internet and talking to anyone who wants to talk.

Ah, saltwater. My friend has a few setups going and they are awesome to look at, but I dont think I would have time. I love my freshwater setups that I can ignore for weeks on end, and they stay so clean! I overfilter though, which is probably why.. good luck w saltwater though! You should get a lionfish (I think the one I saw was an Ornate lion, different than the normal ones ya usually see; a bit stubbier and cuter hehe.)
-
Re: what are your passions/addictions?
we are creating the tank around a lionfish LOL - so yes we will definitely be getting one! probably a dwarf.
our 210, 135, 77, 46, 29 and a little 5 gallon tank - are all freshwater. our 33 gallon and some fry tanks are blue crayfish (p. alleni) and at this time our 90 and 12 gallon tanks are salt. well the 90 will be salt in a couple of days. ;)
i was going to set up our 90 with goldfish a few years ago... but we decided not to... still, i would love a goldfish tank (as opposed to the pond in our back yard with koi, shubunkins and comets in it!) you can see them in a pond... but not all the time since they spend lots of time down in the depths and under the plants. ;)
aaaah the addiction of fish... so peaceful, so relaxing... so beautiful. and NO ONE who comes over says, "eeeeewwwwww you have WHAT in there???" LOL
