All good Rich and Kam.
Kam - Thanks for the kind words on Jeff. He's awesome.
He's also really yellowing up.
This is him in March, at 2 months old.

I fed Jeff tonight and he nailed his F/T small mouse with gusto.
He struck it so hard that Katie heard it in the next room. He's really coming into his own.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff is going into his first shed with me. I am super excited. I cannot wait to see his color(s) when he's finished.
I'll post pictures as soon as he's done.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Still waiting on Jeff to shed. He was due to eat yesterday, but I'll feed after shed. I do not want to risk him having a bad shed and he's looking healthy.
I got picture from the breeder of Jeff's mom and his litter. I thought I'd share.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff shed. First time with me! Had a small bit of shed left on the tip of his tail, but a quick soak and it came right off. Overall, very pleased. Once out of quarantine I can get him in a boaphile with great humidity. I am doing what I can in his quarantine tank.
He's looking awesome. He hasn't eaten in a bit and I plan to feed tonight. He went into blue around food night.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Incidentally little patches of stubborn skin can easily be removed by wrapping the snake up in a damp / wet rough textured bath towel ...
Just let it wriggle around in the middle of the wrapped up towel and simple use any excess towel to recover the head when it pops out . A good five minutes will usually do the job

Not the first, and cannot say I am surprised. It's a right of passage for this tank.
Solana and Yafe both did it. It's the quarantine tank and I guess you have to have some fun!

Yes, they do! I see he also left me a present. I will deal with that tomorrow! 3AM or so here. I had trouble sleeping and happened to check on him.
We celebrated the first night of Hanukkah with my family tonight and I guess we all have a little too much holiday cheer!

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff is doing awesome. He will be eating on a 7 day schedule for a little while, but still small mice/weaned mice.
He had been eating about every 10-12 days to get settled in.
He really is a sweetheart and so calm and docile.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff happily ate tonight, 7 days after his last feeding. I think he's competing with Feliz now for "Pound for Pound, Hardest Striker" in the Dakski/SunshineWalker house!
He's really coming into his own and I couldn't be happier.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Quick video of Jeff eating. He's hitting the small mice hard but I am not rushing him. He's eating weekly now and no need to try for an extra few grams a meal.
He really hits hard for a little guy. I edited the heck out of the video. Strike, then edits/cuts, then 10X speed, then YAWNS!!!!!!! I zoomed in on the yawns!
Enjoy the video.

Agreed. All my boas love to constrict. My corns just grab it and eat most of the time, or constrict for seconds. The boas all hold on for minutes! "I must ensure the prey is deceased....it is no more!"
Nothing like a nice boa H-u-----g........zzzzzzzzzzz - RIP!

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Cleaned Jeff's water bowls today and plan to feed tonight. He's such a sweetie and is putting on weight, but I want to get a dry weight before posting. He's looking dapper and let me take a couple of photos.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff likes to hold it for a while, and left me a big present today. He weighs in dry at 182G now, or about 40G up from when I got him. He could take a small adult mouse, but I am sticking with small/weaned mice (about 13-16G) weekly for a little bit longer. No need to rush him.
He's still a sweetheart and looking handsome as ever.
Bad pictures, but he glows.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff is building confidence and has zero hesitation now with his meals. I barely got the F/T mouse in his tank tonight and he was striking. Missed the first time but quickly got it the second.
I see a drape in your future Jeff! Darn Boas! Such aggressive eaters, but such SWEETIES the rest of the time. I love them.

LOL! Feliz is like that, and so is Behira, but not quite as bad. Jeff gets down to business pretty quickly. I joke that I feed Feliz first, and he's still coiled when Yafe, Solana, and Figment, are all done.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff came off quarantine today and moved into his "life" home, Shayna's old 6X2X1' Boaphile.
He is just going into blue and the humidity is much better and more stable in that tank (relative to his quarantine tank) so that should help him have a great shed.
He went in this evening and spent about an hour exploring a before the lights went out.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff Shed Saturday night and I removed it, took a quick look to make sure he got it all, and then fed Sunday night. I'll get pictures ASAP, but didn't want to skip a feed and he's still settling in his new tank, so I didn't handle much.
He just had his second adult mouse, but a smaller one, just as I fed last week. He was a little hesitant in the new digs, for about 2 seconds, then WAM!

More pictures of the handsome and chill guy, Jeff!
I love how much speckling he's getting agains the red on his tail and the yellows on his body. Amazingly cool looking. He's really becoming my buddy too. Super sweet and chill.

Thank you, Gio. I am very proud of my collection. In diversity, beauty, health, and interact-ability/handle-ability. I work with all my animals closely, hence having "only" 13. Too many more and I wouldn't be able to properly care for or appreciate what I have.
Yeah, in case you didn't notice, I am prone to yellows and oranges in snakes (and lizards - one of my leopard geckos is a sunglow (Carra) and one, Cleo, I forgot her morph, is yellow and pink).
Funny how I ended up with Behira (Ghost BI), who I adore, and is beautiful in her own right, but not "colorful" per se.
Katie pushed me to get Jeff because I wasn't going to "stop" until I had my yellow boa fix :).
When I was 10 years old, in 1990 (!!!!!), I saw my first albino Python and always wanted one. When I got back into reptile keeping after my kidney transplant 8 years ago, and really started doing it right (much more knowledge out there, I was much more mature, funding was better, etc.) I bought my first love, a BP, Shayna, an Albino Spider.
I haven't looked back. Happy to be passionate about this hobby and have some amazing animals.

Re: Jeff Shemesh - VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle het Anery
Jeff, dry, weighed 215G today.
He's doing great. He hadn't gone in a while, and I wasn't feeling great yesterday (food day), so we skipped this weeks feeding.
He will return to his normal schedule next week.
