Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Right now both Pip and Evan are kept in plastic tubs, though when thry get larger I'm getting them aquariums (but I don't have them yet. Pip will be getting his for Christmas as a gift from my mother, not too me, but too the snake).

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I have a couple of racks, but this is the newest one that sits in the middle of my living room (where a normal person would have an entertainment center) ha ha.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Thats a good looking rack, pretty much exactly the size and number of enclosures I want, looks like a purchased one? Where did you get it?
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
That is a mix and match freedom breeder. They live an hour up the road from me. I only do 5 or 6 levels since I'm short and I don't need my snakes looking down on me any more than they already do. :D
The little black one to the side has my babies in it, it's an AP economy rack and it rocks for the little 'uns.
Cheers,
Kat

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
looks good. I'll be looking into a rack as soon as I get my current cage project done.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I've got a crazy mix right now: 2 aquariums, one custom wood cage, and two plastic tubs. Eventually I want to switch over to both a rack system and more custom wood cages, and no more with the aquariums for me!

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I am currently using one tank, one homemade MDF enclosure, and a 4 tub rack that I made but will be bringing home an 8 tub custom rack that I am almost done this week.

I'm actually about to invest in an AP Economy...didn't realize they were so small though, can they house adult BP's, maybe some of the smaller Boas?
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I would not recommend the AP economy for adult bp's. We use them ( and love them) for the babies (in 2 -15 qt rubbermaid per row) and for juveniles up to about 400 grams (1 - 32 qt rubbermaid per row). Once they get bigger than that, the bins are just too small for them to move around and 'stretch' in. So then they get moved to the big rack.

Ohhh...could you post some pictures of them? I'm at the tanks-setup thread...

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Glass aquarium here, but will be switching to homemade/bought rack in the near future.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I hear so much about 'racks', and it seems that a lot of people really like those ... what do they look like, and what are the benefits to that over say a standard glass enclosure? Am I missing out?

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
We use homemade racks and homemade wooden enclosures and a couple of tanks with modified lids and some sterilite tubs for quarintine. Here are some pics.

I also have a couple guys in the sterilite tubs for quarantine. Everything is a work in progress, but I would suggest the racks to anyone, no matter where you end up getting them from. They are they best!

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
kellysballs if your quarantineing a snake with mites in that cage i would think you would be SOL, cause of that all wood unfinished top. i cant manage to keep snakes with unfinished wood cages and not get mites it just doesnt seem possible but i love all your melamine racks there sick and that boa cage is sweet

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I've got two Animal Plastics racks, nine Vision Cages of different sizes, one Slantfront Neodesha, one small custom enclosure by high end habitats, and about two or three tanks, mainly for quarantine. I plan on having nothing but AP racks and vision cages sometime soon.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Right now I have my BP in an aquarium but I'm in the process of switching him over to a plastic tub.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Glass aquariums for the BP's but i'm in the process of building a melamine rack system to house multiple tub sizes.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
right now i'm using the typical setup in a 20L tank for my lonely BP, fluffy. just recently built a rack to hold 4 32 qt sterilites, 8 15qts, or a combo of both. just waiting on my herpstat coming in the mail from the bean farm and i'll be on my way to going totally tub!
Then i can go ahead and get fluffy some friends

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I have my balls in an aquarium but I'm in the process of switching him over to a plastic tubs. not sure if i should use 32q or 41q

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I have my male balls in a animal plastics rack. female's in older snake shack racks. and the bay's in a rbi 12 tub rack. snake shacks are ok but getting older i need to get a new rack for the girls. I am looking at a 6 tub freedom breeder a friend of mine has i might get.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
We only have a few snakes and that's going to be it. We have all Exo-Terra's but they are expensive. The front swing doors are really an asset and with the flow through front vents I can block off the top screen. I had 1/4 inch acrylic tops cut to spec and put handles on them as trying to keep humidity levels up out here in the desert southwest is like trying to, well, fill in your own blank!
We just got into the set-ups and am still waiting for some digital probes to come in but when they are all done I'll post some pics if anyone is interested.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
Finally switched to tubs :) Gonna try feeding for the first time in the new home today! Wish me luck :)

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I use glass aquariums mainly because I already had them and because I just think they look better on display. I currently have 3 different species: ball python, leopard gecko, and fire-bellied toads. I plan on keeping them in my future classroom as soon as I finish school at get a teaching job as a high school biology teacher so I want something that will look really nice for my students to observe the different behaviors of the species.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I have 3 female balls pythons in RBI cages; these are the girls I'll be breeding next season. The rest of the balls are in tubs.
I have 3 RBI cages that my boas are in. When my boas outgrow the cages, they'll go into AP T20 cages and my next largest 3 ball females will go into the cages.
I would honestly like to get all of my ball pythons into cages at one point...
I have 13 balls pythons...3 in cages...3 more to go into cages...almost half way there! :gj:

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
i'd never taken this poll till now... i nailed down the first four options!
on a side note, it's surprising to me how many people use aquariums.
-
Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
I keep mine in a glass vivarium.

Re: What type of enclosures do you use?
My homemade rack... it's good to work in a metal fabrication shop! ;) Unfortunately I don't have enough space in the snake room anymore to get a full shot of it.

I just build our rat racks out of wood, I just can't seem to justify making some out of metal. By the time you figure in the time spent doing everything, plus the cost of materials, plus the fact that a rat rack doesn't really need to be protected from humidity all that much -- it just seems more efficient to build it out of wood. Although making it from metal would solve the problem of trying to find enough straight lumber to build it from! :P
