I paid for my first snake (in 6 years) in full and I’m waiting for him to ship and reading this in all honesty if I had a parrot I would not have more than one snake either. I think Macaws are beautiful and they are on my bucket list to own but I know they are like having another child and sometimes a mean one at that lol

I’m in the same boat as you as far as the wife situation goes lol

My wife did not even want me to get a snake a couple months ago, it took a lot of heart to heart talks to get her ok with it. If I had my option I would own at least 2 more. Probably a nice ball python morph and a king snake. I’ll have to work my way up to that lol

70 ball pythons currently

I have 2 snakes, with plans for more later. When I get my own house, I'm sure I'll be adding a few to the family haha. Right now it's just the ball python and the japanese rat snake.

At this point I think 10 would probably be my max. I guess we'll find out eventually. None of them would be the same species so no plans for breeding here.

I have 24 Ball Pythons, 5 Corn Snakes, 6 Red Tail Boas, 2 Dumeril Boas and 2 Carpet Pythons.
so 39 in total, and I am not going to stop there.

I got one last week. Wait, no, technically I got two last week. Then 4 more today. And another one comes next Tuesday.

All BPs.

I have 3 now, and a 4th incoming once I've paid her off.

2 BP's, Bumblebee female and then a BEL male. One carpet python, a striped coastal female, and a BCI female incoming probably around the end of August.

No plans to stop yet, my current "stop" number is probably around six, but we'll see how it goes once I hit that number.

I'm at 4, 2 Ball Pythons, 1 Corn, and 1 Boa, That's my limit (for now).

I lost 90% of my snakes when I found out my male ball python was actually a girl, cause she laid eggs. Get it?

Too many to list but currently have 122 Ball Pythons after shipping 4 yesterday but that includes for sale hatchlings. Looks like 5 more clutches to go this year will hold back 10-12 hopefully odds be with us lol. Also have one Kingsnake that is my sons pet. Had a pretty good season so far when we transitioned away from Colubrids to Ball Pythons we took out time to build slowly with high quality animals. Only paired 10 this year and have 5 clutches so far averaging 8.6 eggs per clutch with 3 more to go. One absorbed and one didnt go.

So far it looks like you either have one, or you have 11+ But i think this board is a bit bias...

We have 20 Ball Pythons at the moment.

And now I'm up to 10. I've told myself that no more snakes now until I get racks built for them and for the rats. And no more snakes since I need to save for a Dreamsicle.

There's a reptile show Sunday, I'll probably get another snake.

Just hit 7 myself, but only 1 more planned (probably some time next year).

This spring, started shifting my focus over to education, primarily for the Scout group I work with , and a couple other youth organizations around town.

3 BPs, along with a corn, jungle carpet, sand boa, and rosy boa. Gives me variety, plus enough animals that I can rotate them so the kids don't see the same snakes year after year :)

Final snake is going to either be a Blood or a BCI, haven't quite decided yet, though I'm leaning towards a Blood.

Imo a BCI would probably be the best choice if you plan to have it around children. Bloods are awesome but can be unpredictable. If you work with them enough they can be great but their noisy attitude might scare some people at the educational programs.

I was thinking that too...most BCI are pretty chill with handling...even the one I took in as an 'evil' yearling, unwanted for biting multiple owners; it didn't take long to build her trust & I never had even one bite in all the years I had her...she was a great cuddler & "movie watcher". ;) And she did wonderful with public "meet & greets" too.

Wow, I was honestly suprised by the poll results so far. I'm shocked to see that the majority only have one or two snakes. How on earth did you get one or two and stop there? :P

I have felt from day one that my max number would probably be about 12, which I figured is the time and money investment equivalent of like 2 dogs. LOL But there are so many fascinating species and morphs, I am not sure I'll be able to stop when I get to that number. I guess we'll see. I'm not there yet...

I’m the same as you :)

I was ‘allowed’ one baby Corn snake and within a few years I was up to 24 including Burns , Retics and Boas !

As I am getting older ( 61) and our life is getting busy again ( granddaughters) I’m now down to a much more manageable ( less enjoyable) eight snakies !

Whoops, I have five now! Sadly I can't revote.

Sadly this year I lost my pied bald, trick het pied and my old red tail so I'm down to 11. The ball pythons passed for illness reasons and the boa old age and a heart condition. I might make a thread to fill in some details on they're deaths.
