He's awfully cute! I love the way he peeks around the corner before he dares to come out...hahaha! And I never get tired of watching them lick their
faces & eyes. (just like the tokays I used to have)

I wonder if licking their eyes is like the way we rub our eyes in disbelief? Maybe that's why he keeps doing that...he can't believe his good fortune. :D

Ferry is learning how to Rhacodactylus! He hasn't climbed the walls or the door since I got him (that I have seen anyway). Last night, all over the walls and door.

    Here's him on the door!

And here's Ferry tonight, after begging to come out again, hanging with his Momma.

Ferry moved down to the reptile area yesterday and seems really happy.

Here he is with his tank on top of Ezzy's and peaking out at me:

And here he is drinking. Not sure why he had to hang down and stretch instead of going to the branch below and drinking like a normal creature, but oh well. It's cute as can be!

Well, Ferry saw me preparing Dubai Roaches for the Leopard Geckos. He was begging for food and it was food day - Gel food day. He was not having it.

I got a video of the whole thing. What a Pre-Madonna. Seriously? Oh, now you're not hungry? He left it all night too. What a PITA!

Sorry for the bad video - I was trying to feed and open the cage, etc. with one hand and film with the other.

The commentary is good as well though. Either way, worth a good laugh.

Ferry (and Ezzy) needed some cage cleaning yesterday, as well as fresh logs and other wood pieces in their tanks. I had them both out for a bit.

Ferry is doing great (although I do not have new pictures to post right now - sorry).

He regularly eats his gel out of his bowl for me and Katie while we hold it. The other day, Katie held the bowl, and he was on my arm, and he ate a bunch. He's really socializing well.

He also took a mealworm out of my hand.

He's really awesome; a real social butterfly.

Ferry had his first, or maybe second waxworm ever today. I feed them very sparingly, as I do with the leopard geckos, as they will refuse anything else!

Ferry is a good boy. He ate two wax worms, a mealworm, and 2 medium Dubai, in that order.

He must be excited because his new tank is coming today! So is Ezzy's. I'll post pictures when setup.

If I haven't mentioned, Chewie's should eat the crested gecko type gel (I feed a specific Chewie Diet from Leapin' Leachies and Ferry loves it - also more calcium which they need) 2-3X a week and insects 1-2X a week. I feed 2X a week insects and 2X a week gel. The insects are dusted with calcium both times and vitamins 1X a week.

This is a big difference between Chewie's and crested geckos and leachies. I don't mind feeding insects as I feed the three Leopard Geckos insects, and have a variety on hand.

He's so social too, Rich! Too bad you are across the pond and can't meet him! You'll have to come fly into NYC one day and visit!

I asked his breeder for the most calm and social Chewie he had and boy did it pay off! Ferry rocks!

Also, keeping his tank at a gradient and with a 76-78F hot spot has woken up his appetite! He's pounding his insects, as usual, but also eating his gel regularly. I can offer insects 2X a week now and Gel 2-3X a week and he's eating. They should eat Gel regularly and insects 2X a week. However, I was offering insects 1X so he would eat his gel at least 1X a week too.

Got a cute picture today of Ferry eating his food.

Also, I installed a mist king system for both Ferry and Ezzy to keep humidity up. I've had a few days when I haven't been feeling well and I was not able to mist as often as I would have liked. Humidity should be 70-85% for them, with occasional drops into the 60% range to let things dry out.

I really like the system and it works as advertised. I'll probably write more about that in a review.

Ferry loves to attack his insects from above.

Overall he's doing great and enjoying his misting system (as is Ezzy) and new digs. He's still a really sweet and outgoing guy. I give him insects (dubai mostly, but occasionally some mealworms, and less often, wax or butter worms) 2X a week and gel 3X. All insects dusted in calcium (very important for Chewies to have high calcium diets) and 1/2 feedings he gets a vitamin supplement as well on the insects.

Re: Ferry - Rhacodactylus Chahoua (Chewie)
Ferry is doing awesome. He's active and happy and eats like a pig, most of the time. They say you should feed insects 2X a week and gel 3-4X a week. Ferry is a little picky with Gel sometimes if offered daily, except when offered bugs. Calcium is a big issue for these guys so all bugs are covered in calcium and his food is rich in calcium.

What I've been doing, and he seems to be doing well, is gel day 1, insects day 2, day or two off, gel, insects, repeat, with an extra gel day thrown in. When offering gel daily, he would often pick at it, or not even touch it. This way, he's eating regularly, maintaining weight (he's an adult), and happily hunting bugs and seeking out his gel. The gel is good for him so it's 3X gel and 2X insects in a 5 day period. The insects are gut loaded, and covered in calcium as mentioned, but he would eat a 1,000 if offered. I give either 1-2 superworms, and a few Dubai roaches, or some roaches and mealworms, etc. He will eat anything that moves. He loves to hunt. I try to limit the mealworms to 1X a week because off the chitin and feed roaches pretty much every insect feeding. He loves them and they are good for him.

Below is a video of him watching, hunting, and nailing a wax worm (a special treat).
