Re: 2018 Male Rio Bravo Pokigron Suriname Red Tailed Boa Constrictor Progression
Thanks y’all! I’m pretty smitten with him. I’ve got a nice new pic of him in a very light color phase but Tapatalk won’t let me upload it. Maybe I’ll luck out and he’ll be looking nice when I get home later to try another attempt

Don’t jinx me man... Someone will find me dangling from the rafters if I have another critter revolt on my hands

Lol no doubt. You have really had one heck of a ride with the retic duo. Honestly, I'm rather surprised you hung in this long, especially with 2 terrors.
Caesar seems to be going through his 'needy' phase again since he just shed this morning. First this morning, he wanted petting and sat on my arm and on my shoulder. Now tonight, he was pacing the front so i opened a door and he came over and laid there for more petting. Now im over on the computer and he is sitting there with his head on the litter dam lol.
Going to try a 1.5lb rabbit sunday for him when i go pick up my order.
-
I think I'm finally understanding what pushing is with this Olive Python. I have no idea how to keep him satiated. He is hungry and cruising the day after a meal.
It's really making me appreciate the boa demeanor haha. BCC is a bucketlist item, but I have too many boas right now to be able to plan for another large snake (especially with the acquisition of the two argentines!)
I cannot get over the tail of that snake. Share more photos cuz it's never enough.
-
He looks great JM.
I pretty give my boa the nod when it comes to handling, impressive, but not over done size, and laid back demeanor in most cases.
You will have no problems with that one!
-
Good looking Pokigron.
Does he still have the pink or has it changed ?

I’m colorblind so I honestly have a hard time seeing his pinks as it is haha. He still looks about the same as he has since arriving. Maybe a slight bit of buckskin coloration along his dorsal pattern

jmcrook, you sure know how to pick'em.

Re: 2018 Male Rio Bravo Pokigron Suriname Red Tailed Boa Constrictor Progression
Shuffled the snake room around in preparation for the behemoth cage, hopefully next week, and got Leonard moved into half of a T8.

Lots of new smells and stimulation so he’s understandably a little freaked out and was breathing pretty hard when I put him in. Don’t think he’s ever had a natural substrate until now either. Welcome to the good life Lenny!

Looking good. It doesn’t matter young or old fresh substrate always makes them uncomfortable. They must feel like there on the moon, where the hell am I.

Critter and cage are both looking good JMC. I'm sure Lenny will love the new digs in no time.

Love it man!
Definitely the good life👍

He's looking great and love the set up

Re: 2018 Male Rio Bravo Pokigron Suriname Red Tailed Boa Constrictor Progression
Too cute to not share. I think he’s found some of the benefits of a loose substrate in anticipation of feeding night this evening. Poised and ready to attack! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ca76188805.jpg

Thanks! It’s Pro Coco husk chips. Essentially just a much cheaper version of reptichip. I’ve noticed little if any difference

Maybe even more hassle free than Geoffrey. Which is impressive. Something will happen eventually with Phyllis. It has to. Vet suggested maybe forcing a feeding just to get some calories in her to help her body fight off the infection.
He’s my first and only boa but I do really like him. He’s very secretive in the cage. Almost never see him outside of either of his hides, though he does alternate them semi regularly. Still not sure why it took me this long to get a boa constrictor. I kinda want another one... gotta get everything here back to 100% before I can even consider making any new additions. It’s only fair to the current critters, myself included.

Cute picture JMC :) . I'm glad you're enjoying the boa experience. I'm new to boas too and it's been really cool so far. I'm seeing more and more how beautiful and diverse the species is. Best wishes.

Thanks Ziggy! I have to say, I was very surprised when you got your Argentine Boa. Very unique boas and I like how dark they get. I’d be lying if I said that a BCO hasn’t crossed my mind

Overall I like it better than the aspen. Holds humidity very well. Just had to to be careful about not getting it to saturated before putting it in. But best of all I did 4 4x2 cages and still have some left.

Fresh coat of paint on Leonard this morning. Dude is going to be a stunner at 5-6’+. His tail just keeps getting better.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...51334deb9d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1eb3565c00.jpg
He’s just over 6 months old now and weighed in at 111grams. He may be holding back a poop though. He weighed 72grams in late June when I got him.

I’ve only seen him in a light phase once or twice, today was the first he’s been really dark. Super cool. The photo actually looks lighter that he was in person. His head was almost a purpley black when I got him out.

Kind of funny. Gina is usually in her lighter phase. I usually dont see her darken up much unless she is getting ready to shed. She goes from a light phase to an even lighter phase haha.

Re: 2018 Male Rio Bravo Pokigron Suriname Red Tailed Boa Constrictor Progression
Caught this dude perched on his branch the last couple nights. Very out of the ordinary for him. He’s always in one hide or the other. Maybe seasonal changes are influencing him, it’s been a bit rainy and slightly cooler for Mississippi anyway

Such a cool little guy. I look at the pictures of the neonates and can hardly believe my big girl was once that size.
