Re: Help Please!!!
Seeing the picture now I know he finally went to the bathroom, which is good because he has not gone in a month and a half but he has not ate anything so I dont really understand...
I dont turn the UTH or the heat lamp off during the night but my house does get pretty cool.
SatanicIntention, where would I put the other heating pad, the one thats under his hide covers the whole bottom of the tank on the hot side. I have the heat lamp right over his hide and I cover the rest of the cage with a dry towel. One more thing, the humidity stay at about 32% and at night it will go down to 23% or so. I have a hide on the hot side and a dog water bowl as a water/hide on the cool side so how would I get the humidity up?

Re: Help Please!!!
Try not to cover the tank with a towel at all if you can help it. It's just gross, harbors bacteria, bleh. Try the ways I mentioned in my previous post. Covering the screen with Glad Press N' Seal or Saranwrap, both work well.
The second heat pad would go under the cool side if it is not getting in the 82-84 degree range and staying consistent. Is the warm side getting in the 93-95 range? The lamp is what is making the humidity so low, but since your house is cool, it is probably necessary. You just have to work around that :) Ditch the towel, and try one of the methods I mentioned. Usually covering the screen works so well, that you may have to get a smaller bowl.
Can someone help me find a picture of what this looks like? Elevate, didn't you use something like this? I know having a picture helps out alot, since alot of us are visual people ;)

Re: Help Please!!!
Glass tanks are extremely challenging to set up to hold humidity. I keep a boa in a glass 20 long like this and it hold humidity well enough to get a good shed, but still requires misting:

You just need some duct tape, plastic wrap, and a little creativity to make it look good. Spend some time on it, and it won't look as ghetto as mine.
The covering on the top will also allow your cage to retain heat MUCH MUCH better!

Re: Help Please!!!
Good memory, Becky.....found this in the archives. This was the setup for my first bp, and the screen top I did spend some time on modifying:

Re: Help Please!!!
Thank you! That's what I'm talkin' bout :) It doesn't look "ghetto" at all, you haven't seen my poor snake's tub yet, LoL. duct tape covering holes, c-clamps holding lid in the middle... Poor Amani, she must be so fashionably deprived ;)

....please tell me you aren't serious......
You dont duct tape the screen lid to the cage. You should be able to completely remove the screen lid from the tank to modify it as shown in the above pics. Then just replace the lic on top....pretty simple.
Unlesss you have one of those crappy critter creeper lids that slide into the top. In that case, the only thing thats going to work is using contact paper.

Re: Help Please!!!
I had my bp in a 20L tank.
U duct tape the screen part leaving space for air. Duct tape on the outside of the screen.
I had a dome light w/ a 60watt red bulb which I got a Petco for about 8.00
I laid the light on the screen and cut out the duct tape about 1/2" bigger than the dome. I had this on the cool side. On the hot side I had a heat pad w/o auto shutoff and a t-stat hooked to that to keep the temps straight
For hides to fit in a 20L I use small plastic bowls like takeout comes in, just flip over and cut a small opening in the side. They measure about 6" round and 2" high one on each end and they come in black, small tupperware or clay bowl for water in the middle with about 1/4 of it over the heat pad to help w/ the humidity.
I used reptibark for substrate and would lightly mist in the am and pm to keep the humidity up. I put the accurite on the cool side and ran the sensor over to the hot side and stuck it under the back side of the hot hide to be able to monitor the temp on the hot side in his hide where he spent most of his time
The accurite cost about 15.00, I use the small dome light 5 1/2" it cost about 8.00, bulb 8.00 and the hides I got from my takeout store on the corner for 1.00 a pc, duct tape about 5.00 roll I used the black which gave it a nice look same color as the top, T-stat 30.00 and clay dish about 2.00, heat pad was about 15.00 also I think.
This worked for me great and keep temps 90-93 on hot and 80-82 on cool and humidity at about 55
Hope this helps

Re: Help Please!!!
Jotay, thank you for the information, I will give it a try.
Elevatethis, I do have one of the lids that slides on the tank and I like it. It is far from being crappy..
