Beautiful snakes. From my reading of various threads on here, it's still debated whether mice or rats are healthier, or if there's really a difference. Some people will feed both for a variety. Boas are pretty good eaters and would likely not get stuck on one type of feeder. That said, eventually they are too big for mice to be appropriate sized. For that reason, I am feeding my snakes rats that will eventually be too large for mice.

There is a big size difference between rat hoppers and mouse hoppers. It's difficult to tell how big your snakes are based on photos, but rat hoppers sound too small. You want the feeder, when stretched out, to be the same width or slightly larger than the thickest part of the snakes body. A bulge should be visible after feeding.

I have a young female albino boa and she's on small rats, working her way toward medium.

Edit: interestingly enough, I got my girl from snakes at sunset as well. I was not impressed with their customer service - they sent me the wrong color morph of one of the snakes, and didn't answer my requests for some form of resolution to the problem. I will not buy from them again.

Thank you. It could have been worse. While the snakes were cold on arrival, and not given much for heat, they all have survived and it's been like 6 months since I got them.

Mine I believe was listed as a lipstick Kahl albino. Let's see if I can upload a picture. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...03a85de446.jpg

I checked, I got her in May of last year. I guess she's still kind of small for her age by some people's standards. But she seems healthy and has a good temperament. She likes gripping and climbing more than my other BCIs.

She does look like yours, though I think he has better color and contrast than my girl. I'm guessing she'll be pretty yellow when she's grown.

I would love to compare their growth. I need to weigh her, haven't in a while. She's on small rats.

Is Rafael a hypo? He's really pretty. I have a hypo too but mine looks different than yours so that's why I wasn't sure of yours being hypo or not.

I fasten my probes that are inside the cage with duct tape. Pvc cages. Works well thus far.

    Re: Boa Adventure
What is your concern regarding putting tape in the tanks? You could fasten it with heavy cage decor, or put the probe between the cage and the heat mat (assuming that's what you're using). With the probe not being fastened, the snakes can move it away from the heat source, causing the heat source to think it's not warm enough, and it could potentially heat up enough to burn the snake.

    Re: Boa Adventure
I just don't like it in the habitat, Also I do use the UTH and they work perfect for all the kids getting some belly heat their caves are positioned were they get the thermostat controlled heat and also On the glass tanks I have fixtures with a Ceramic bulb that goes off and on with my thermostat This setup works for me. I plan on buying the rack system at some point. I keep the Snake room at 80 degrees Year round. I can Hardly wait for the rack system It will open a lot more space for more babies. But my real reason I want to set up my Sewing Room in their so I can spend more time observing my Snake kids while I'm sewing it's a Beautiful view.......

I would like to have a Mexican Black king too. I wasn't familiar with the gargoyle morph - very pretty. I keep getting more and telling myself "this is it, last one!" thus far, that hasn't worked. Maybe it will for you. They're so addicting!

Meh, snows don't do it for me. Rat snake would be interesting. And the retic, yes that is on my list but I want a sd/dwarf purple albino. I don't want a 15' mainland retic. Too much snake for me to want to deal with lol.

I'm looking at more of a high expression jungle het albino male bci or a motley het albino male bci down the road though so if I get the wild hair, I can breed them to my sunglow and make me some junglows or motley sunglows.

My Rapfael had her second shed and it was perfect, Quincy is in a bad mood I think he's heading into the blue. Everyone ate last night except the two Boas, my Big Cheese Order will be her tomorrow , I bet only Rafael will eat. These Boas really get grouchy when the shed cycle kicks in my Balls and My Short Tail and Blood don't have such a bad mood.
