Thanks much for following along it was actually pretty fun despite the few hiccups. I will take some pics in a week or so of my snakes. They are all morphs (not high priced but definitely quality) or hets so there is a promising breeding future ahead. :gj:

My temps are great... Still do a lot for humidity but it's a whole house issue... I'm a computer guy so I like the theory of a heat sync so I added some aluminum take to the tub bottoms

    http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12...ce6d241e09.jpg

This is how I add craft paper... This allows them to burrow underneath if they want to hide as I don't have hides in the tubs

Hi all just read through the thread... obviously "her" for the posts actually is supposed to be het. My autocorrect on the phone changed a lot of stuff. :taz: Also the paper looks to be really wet in some spots of the pics but that is not the norm. That is how it looks right after spraying. 15 min later the wetness is reduce by half and an hour later you wont even see it. I do have a few accurite hygrometers measuring the diff shelves so humidity is good...just gotta water more often than preferred but as i mentioned before it is a whole house issue. :gj: Also sorry for the bad pics. I let my father-in-law borrow my slr camera so all i had was the cell phone cam. These pics don't do them justice which is reason i didn't post the yellow bellies which I will need to differenciate between. I think i got them right but may need some other opinions...ones a pastel yb and the other is a fire yb. One has a very nice red blushing and flames and the other is very light...i would think the fire has the nice red blushing but could be wrong lol. Also Mystery is in shed and I dont want to show her not at her best (also dont wanna get bit lol)

Wow this is really cool! I want to build a smaller version of a rack similar to this sometime soon... This and youtube videos will be helpful! The only thing i worry about is how to wire/use the heat tape the right way... I'm not really science-smart in that way and dont get how it works.

Beautiful snakes as well! I love seeing pictures of even simple snakes

Glad you enjoyed. The heat tape is easy to install and there is are a lot of videos and diagrams on the subject so there is no need to stress. Glad you like the pics. The only normal is Chaos the first pic all of the others are either morphs or hets. The cell phone didn't do most of them justice. When i get my good cam back ill retake them. Good luck on your rack!

As i mentioned above this was cleaning day and I had just added the water to bump the humidity as my house is really dry at 40% right now. It looks worse than it is and the water was dried 15 min later. The paper is by no means soaked lol and the humidity is sitting between 50-60% around all areas according to my accurites.

Can I ask what size/type work best?? I'm at the store, found some really good locking ones, 7.2 qts, 14 inches depth... Would that work, and at what weight(snake gram weight) would I need to upgrade?

    roughly it's measured in quarts:
    6 quart = hatchlings
15 quart = juvenile/small adults (i think that's the size he's using, i have the same tubs with purple locking latches)
    32 quarts = adult
    40-plus quarts = big adults/breeding

the 7.2 quart tubs you're looking at sounds good for the first few months if u have a hatchling.

Thank you! Screenshotted that for future reference.
Would target or walmart sell the purple locking ones? Fred Meyer has 15qt nice looking ones, but absolutely no lids for them... Might end up going to home depot for everything, think they'd have them there?

they're made by Sterilite and i got them at Target. also FYI, these particular ones have clear lids. since u are looking tubs with locking latches, i think u would use them so this fact might be important. some other tubs have solid color/non-transparent lids. it depends if u want light to shine through the lids or not.

Also something I've always thought about... How is humidity held in racks? And the best substrate for them, paper towels vs the bark stuff(not home atm and don't know what it's called exactly)? I thought I'd use paper towels because I see people use them often in racks

I got my tubs from target for $4 each. I would think the humidity would hold better if my homes humidity wasn't so low. When I add the moss it holds pretty good but i do have to re-wet them every couple of days

I personally use the clear view tubs with the locking latches. when they weren't in the rack I partially covered with a blanket. the tubs are recessed enough in the rack so it's dark enough now.
