Nice little guy! Now as hard as it may be.... You've got to leave him be to settle in for a couple weeks. :P Believe me, I understand how tough it is to wait to handle them... My latest arrival is still in his 2 week settling in period and I can't wait to handle him.

You might want to give him something to climb on in his quarantine tub, like a small branch, bird perch, or pvc pieces. As you can now tell, boas are much more active and like to climb more than BPs, so they enjoy their exercise. :D

Heh.. Yeah these guys are a lot of fun. My husband doesn't own any reptiles, but my boa is the snake that converted him into enjoying handling them. He still doesn't want any of his own and won't pick out or initiate purchases, but he's more than happy to "play" with mine lol.

I would take a lot of time in picking out your second though. Maybe consider a morph or a locality that has different characteristics than the one you have now. I'd love to get a sunglow jungle or pastel jungle one day and also would really like to get a breeding pair of either Bcls or Nicaraguan Bcis.

I agree! But if you want one that will keep some (or all) of its' patterning as an adult, look for either a lipstick line albino or sunglow. Sunglows tend to hold pattern better than albinos, but lipstick line holds pattern best as an adult. Coral albino/sunglows tend to have an all over coralish-color rather than pattern as adults. There are so many great boa morphs and lines out there that it can be very hard to choose. :D

Definitely go for a sunglow over an albino. That hypo gene in the sunglows will help keep the color as adults. Also just me personally but if you are going to buy a "lipstick" line, make sure it was from Tom Burke stock somewhere in its gene pool. A lot of people like to throw around the name "lipstick" on babies as baby sunglows are brighter but once they turn into adults, you will definitely be able to tell the difference between a true lipstick and one that was just labeled it to bump up sales.

Also what I found easy and cheap plus fun to design are the PVC toys. I made a climbing branch/tree for Vicky. I just sanded it down to add a little roughness but some people will use a propane torch on them to give them the charred wood look or splash water on them then torch them to give them a pattern. I combined that with the silk vines you can get from craft stores and then bought a couple packs of suction cups with hooks at Home Depot and hung them up around the pvc toy and Vicky climbs all over, usually when she is hungry though

snows are great looking (as babies) but I've never seen pics of adults to see what they mature like. Gotta love a snake with white eyes lol.

I too dig the white snakes. That's why I got a high white pied bp and the Redgroup/Burke Lipstick sunglow bci. I want her to hold as much contrast into adulthood.

Here is my adult Snow Boa . 6 years old and 7' long . A calm , gently guy who seems to be getting better looking with age .

He's the featured Snow Boa in the John Berry Designer Morphs books .

He was apparently the brightest , whitest hatching they'd ever seen but thankfully he's coloured up nicely , I'm not a fan of PURE white normally although I have a cute Blizzard corn snake which doesn't look too washed out .

Well mine is a kind of Mötley White and Yellow and looks amazing , he gets more and more whiter the nearer the tail end .

I don't think he'd look anywhere near as attractive without the yellow tones . Those all white BEL Royals / Balls leave me cold whilst I find the Albinos and Pieds very attractive .

I have a normal ball and a Hog Island Boa and I love them both for different reasons. The ball is quite calm, very inquisitive (seems to like being out exploring the house) and is generally a good eater - she is a very easy snake to handle. The ball is more of a cute, pretty snake whereas the boa is exotic and exquisite to look at. And the boa is a totally different character than the ball. She/he is much faster in her/his actions and probably will be a bit of a handful when older. But, at the moment is a bit of a chicken and holds onto me quite tightly when she doesn't want to get down (had a heck of a job cleaning her enclosure the other night as she did not want to go in the holding tub - can't do too much with only one hand!). Also she has hissed at me a couple of times which the ball has not done. My only concern is that the boa is a female and will get too big for just me to handle but I won't worry too much about it until it happens. I have only had the boa for two weeks and we are still getting used to each other.
