wrong snake, compensation?

Any updates on this? Is the breeder willing to work with you? Is a BOI posted yet?

I second that, as a hopeful breeder myself one day I would very much like to avoid people who would do this. If I screwed up like that I would bend over backwards for my customer and do EVERYTHING in my power to make it right.

I had a "wrong snake" incident just this past week. The seller not only offered me a full refund (including the cost of shipping it back), but gave me a $60 refund when I decided to keep the "wrong" snake. :)

Don't let this guy walk over you. He has obligations as a seller that he is not fulfilling.

I really wouldn't let this go too long before posting a BOI thread. I'm not a fan of those who post a BOI thread as soon as something goes sour and it's just a false alarm that now has a permanent red spot on the persons name...but too long and it gets out of that time frame where people can help you.

Under the circumstances surrounding this particular seller...I think you are perfectly justified in making a post.

I'd like to know of the update on the situation as well as who the breeder is so I can make sure to avoid.

The problem is historically with live animals both Paypal and the credit card companies usually side with the seller. They only care that you got a snake. The only time a buyer usually wins the chargeback is for non-delivery, usually.

Hey guys, sry haven't updated. I have been keeping in contact. He doesn't have anything right now im wanting. More will be ready wednesday im told, so I will call him then and see if I can get the cost of the animal at least off a new animal, otherwise I'll be taking the cash refund and looking around for female for future pairings I think. I'll also be posting the review then as well.

Wait, what about the snake you originally wanted?

So because the seller screwed up...he's going to make MORE money off of you by giving you a discount on another animal? You're basically rewarding him for frakking up! Look who just made another sale off of bad business ethics!

As I said before and still stand firm on this. DONT DO IT! Get your money back!

I have to agree. What he did was fraud, bait and switch not just bad ethics, but illegal. No way you should have to pay a dime to this guy to be made whole let alone give him more business.

Well even if he's not the snake I asked for, a pastel is still a pastel, and I have no need for another, granted I could ask for the one I wanted and sell the one he sent, but its not worth the hassel.

I still plan on talking to him about a full refund, but I need to see if he is willing, otherwise I'll offer a good amount at least off, and I'll be making sure(pretty much holding his hand) through the whole process if it does come to that.

If he's a pet, then a pastel is a pastel. He'll make a great pet.

However, if you intend to breed, a pastel is not just a pastel. Not all pastels are created equally.
The pastel you wanted originally was a much better example of the morph than the one you received. When you breed, you want to breed the best representations of the morph. Breeding poor examples, just produces more poor examples and muddies up the already saturated gene pool. And in my opinion, he shouldn't be bred.

This is just my $.02.

I agree with satomi. With pastels quality can make a big difference in breeding.

idk there seems to be a lot of ppl telling me the other way around as well, and no in the last case scenario if he won't do a full refund and only the money off another snake I will tell him to send me a picture verifying, have it seperated into its own bin with my name on it and so forth, but that is a last option.

You still can't guarantee he will do that only way to be sure is picking it up in person.

If he won't honor you for a refund and paid return of the animal...I think it is time you post on the BOI...

What I would do in this situation if you don't have the knowledge/supplies to send the snake back would be to ask for a partial refund/full refund on the animal: amount based on what you feel would make this right with you. If you do have the know how to send it back I would call your bank/credit card company up and see if they can get the funds back to you based on not receiving what you paid for but you will probably need to send the "item" (the pastel) back to the seller.

I would NOT settle for a credit towards another animal from this seller and I would NOT let this drop until the seller makes this right with you. If it never gets resolved to your liking I would post to Fauna's BOI (I have no doubts that people would agree that the seller is 100% in the wrong).

Sounds like it's becoming your job to make sure he does his job. There's way too many breeders available who will take care of you properly to be bothering with this.

If the seller screws up, the seller should fix it. If he can't afford the shipping of a single snake to make things right, something is wrong.

If he won't send you the animal you asked for, get a refund. If he won't refund try to charge it back.

No matter how that turns out, write your review of him, then move on and buy from one of the many breeders who will take care of you properly. It shouldn't be your job to make sure he does his job correctly. Rewarding substandard service simply leads to more substandard service. There are tons of breeders who by now would have just shipped you the snake you requested at their cost, told you to keep the one they already sent you, and called it a day. Those are the people you need to find and do business with.
