I'm not sure if this violates any of the site rules but the Madison Area Herpetological Society (the group I am with) is doing a free raffle for an Animal Plastics rack. Who can't use a free rack? :P

    Lol I guess I didn't win! Boo!

    :P

it was nice to see some new faces and some old ones :D I had a great time even though I didn't get to pick up any reptiles this time. My GTP and ATP are getting a much needed upgrade/change of scenery :)

I wish I could have won it but have no idea how I would have got it home.

Agreed. I really enjoyed meeting everyone. I actually ended up not getting anything I went looking for, but still spent all my money, lol. Pickd up that lemonblast lessor and an adult female bearded dragon. Would have at least had my thermostat too but the ATM wouldn't accept the card we were using, probly because we were out of state. Our bank has screwed things up for us before that way. I actually hit another show sunday and picked up two more normal breeder females. I may actually have enough of those now. Now I just have to put some racks and cages together and I should be good for a while.

So now, who all is going again in march, lol?

Both ATMs were down. I'm so glad the vendors I wanted snakes from, took cards!

I didn't get to meet anyone.

The raffle is actually anti-climatic, both items were picked up by someone other than the winner and we had to call them both. :(

We actually had to draw twice for the rack because the first winner had left and wouldn't be able to make it back before the show ended. :(

It was awesome seeing everyone again and meeting some of you for the first time. :)

I have some photos! Look for them shortly. So glad to see and meet everyone! It was a blast! I came away with 4 new animals and Mark found a really nice setup to build a natural vivarium for his green tree python. All in all, a highly successful weekend and I spent way too much money..... :P

I know I said I wouldn't pick up anything, but I ended up getting a female matrix red blood python. She is really pretty but we did not notice that she has a bad kink until we got home. The kink is not noticeable until she straightens out. Not sure if something happened at the show or if we were sold her with the kink. We had planned on breeding her with our male, but instead, she will probably make a very unique pet.

That sucks about the kink :(

Let's see some pics, I love Bloods and saw some cool looking ones at the show.

Here are some pics of the snakes we picked up.

Here is a couple of quick snapshots of her. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to have her checked out, just in case.

You can see she kinda goes at a right angle a couple of inches from her head. She can bend it one direction but can't straighten it out and bend it the other direction.

Yeah, I know. I'll still take good care of her no matter what. She is still a pretty girl.

I would contact the breeder and ask if the kink was existing. I suppose a vet will know for sure... but if it was existing it is something they should have pointed out before making the sale.

That's a KINK??? Holy smokes. I don't mean to sound melodramatic, but I can't see how a kink that significant could have happened just in transporting her home. That is a major kink. I would definitely contact the breeder. Something like that should have absolutely been pointed out at the show. I'm sorry this happened to you. I am glad you like her anyway, but right is right and I would try to see if the breeder will make it right. Let us know....

I have a vet appointment tomorrow to get her checked out. And you are both right. It is something that should have been pointed out before she was sold. My boyfriend, Mike, thinks it may be a muscle cramp. I'm wondering if something got dislocated. I'm going to see what the vet says tomorrow to see if there is anything that can be done. She seems to be getting a little better each day. Seems like she can straighten it out a little bit more. So I am keeping hopeful. It was just strange that I did not notice anything until I got home. I held her for a while before I bought her and brought her out a couple of times before we got home.

Did you transport her home in a bag? If so, is there any chance she might have gotten hung up in the knot or tie of the bag and not been able to move for the duration of the trip home? If that is a possibility, then I could see it being a sort of "cramp" or dislocation. Either way, it certainly is strange. I also would've thought you'd notice well before buying her (and I mean no offense at that - it just seems like such an obvious issue). Do let us know what the vet says and best of luck to you and her!!
