I usually don't get anything for holidays and I'm fine with that because I'm the parent. I enjoy getting my son some things he wants but this year was a little different, and very surprisingly so.. I haven't gotten anything for years but this year my boys grandma on his dads side was feeling very generous and got everyone some pretty cool things.

I actually got a Nintendo 3DS. That totally blew my mind! Plus the Skylander Giants starter kit. She also bought us all a new TV since mine was an old analog set. My son got the Nintendo DSi and a bunch of games for his.

I'd say we made out like bandits and I kinda feel like a kid again myself lol!

Its nice to see Doolittle got the camera she wanted. Now she needs to give us some good pics of her collection! :P I got a bunch of Seahawk stuff (you can never go wrong getting me that) An oak gun cabinet, 14 oz Toblerone (yearly santa clause tradition) and a check for 500 big ones from my Gma Suzanne. Now I can pay the money back to the VA for the class I failed this quarter. :(

Seahawks are my NFC pick team. After they lost to Green Bay in that controversy ive been following them more. Its hard to bc theyre complete opposite part of the country where the patriots are haha. I want it to be a Pats vs. hawks super bowl!

I got bath and shower gel, a new set of kitchen knives, two CD's, a 2013 wolf calender, and a German Shepherd dog figurine. The figurine is just a cute gift because I totally want a real GSD of my own one day. My current living situation does not allow me to own of these awesome dogs.

Until I start a poll to confirm how many want to see them on me, here is a pic of them by my comp - note the forum on screen for authenticity.

When youre little its different but as i got older i really care much more about seeing family who i dont get to see often and eating good food. My grandparents are getting up there in age. Every time i get to see them could be the last so i try and make the most of it. And prime rib is just amazing so you gotta savor that too lol!

I feel the same way. I look forward to the holidays more to see family, with the potluck style meal, than for anything else. This year Christmas was with my in-laws, and that's always hard for me because it DOES feel very materialistic. Everyone is given two names of people to buy gifts for, and if you try to opt out of that you are pressured until you give up and do it any way. This year my husband and I just did baked goods for everyone, because for us it felt better, since we were putting our time and effort into it ("baked with love"...) rather than just going out and buying something. It also took more thought because we had to really think about the person we were doing it for: Do they have any allergies? Health issues (i.e. diabetes)? Anything they don't like? What would they like?

It was still fun watching our baby with her present though. She's not even a year old yet, so she really didn't get anything super high tech (although her great-aunt and my husband's cousin's girlfriend did get her a couple of those stuffed toys that makes noise... bringing those toys up to 4 now! the things they have for kids these days...) , mostly some blocks, stacking toys, a regular stuffed toy, and some books (she really likes books, even at her tender young age). It was fun watching her open the packages (she likes that paper ripping noise lol), and of course showing off for everyone. My husband and I didn't actually buy her anything, all her gifts came from other family members! We figure, we are her regular providers, and she's too young to understand, so she doesn't need any extra gifts from us. lol

I hope for a Broncos vs Hawks superbowl because we beat the Pats and I dont want their vengeance on the big stage you know? I like the idea of facing an entirely different team in the superbowl. But they are rolling... More like steam rolling right now lol.

Oh yeah I forgot some thing: A super nice set of non stick pans. Our current set crapped out on us after the first month of use. They were cheap.

While I am confident that we could win again because the hawks are much better team than that game we played earlier this season I dont want to see the pats again... Especially in the superbowl. I just feel more confident against the Broncos but they are a great team too. But I dont think we will make it past the NFC Champ game. I think if we meet the packers in the playoffs they are gonna get us back for that game...

Being that my wife and I as well as most of our families are grown, we don't really exchange gifts much with each other. We usually just go all out buying toys for our 5 & 7 year old nieces and my 6 year old brother in law. They made out like bandits this year.

I got what I wanted, though. I got to spend a quiet Christmas with my wife in our first home, see pictures of my nieces in Texas opening their presents and I got to make Christmas dinner (I love cooking!). Corned beef, turkey, sausage stuffing, grits casserole, mashed taters with turkey giblet gravy, cream cheese & olive sammiches, pumpkin pie, fudge and all other forms of artery clogging goodness. :gj:

I did get myself a little something right before Christmas...

1 million scoville heat units! 450 times hotter than Tabasco hot sauce. Why do I do this to myself? :D

    Is it this? CaJohn's Frostbite?
    http://www.hotsauce.com/v/vspfiles/photos/1794-2T.jpg

I have had very poor luck with CaJohn's products. Maybe it is just poor quality control or bad luck, I dunno, but everything I have had of theirs was a let down and the Scoville ratings they gave their products were usually severely overrated, unfortunately. The Frostbite I had from them was hot, don't get me wrong, but far from 1,000,000 Scoville. I'd say more in the 200,000 range. I have had great luck with Da-Bomb, Mad Dog and Blair's products if you're after some inexpensive hot sauces. They are usually very consistent in quality and their ratings are generally very accurate.

The best part about hot sauces and extracts like these are when you get that friend that loves to boast about hot much they love hot stuff and how they put Tabasco or Frank's on everything. We just laugh and offer them a sample of a real man's hot sauce. Hilarity always ensues. :D

I really have to check in more often. :D Some nice gifts there, folks.

This year, I actually made out pretty well as usually I get maybe one thing. My stepmom's family does a get together every year on the 24th and we do a 'secret santa' exchange. This year, I got a very nice set of body sprays and lotions from Victoria's Secret that turned out to be from my stepsister. :D From my dad and stepmom, we got a $25 gift card to the restaurant of our choice (we chose Famous Dave's BBQ) and Ari got a $25 card to Barnes N Noble (to add to the $25 from surveys we already had. :D).
I thought that would be it, but we also got a set of spices (Ari is a wonderful cook), two oil burners and 7 oils, a new plant hanger, and (we suspect) a food dehydrator from our close friends this past Saturday! Awesome stuff. :D

For ourselves, I got 4 new DVDs (black friday sale on Amazon), and Ari got a new XBox game (Rise of Amalur: Reckoning). :)
