Wow, crazy deal!! Forget the price for starters - just the fact that someone is selling a proven file female at this time of year is unheard of.

I thought light normal until you put the comparison shot up

I just woke up to a text from the guy selling her saying he didn't realize how important she was to him and he can't go through with the sale. :( I am so extremely disappointed :'( I was so excited to get her.....

So, they were just "unaware of it's value" vs. making room or offering a good deal! THAT would be enough for me to blacklist someone. A deal is a deal and then you go on. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but if the seller sees this post too, maybe....just maybe... they will keep their word !

Well this guy had posted on craigslist, that's where I saw the ad. He was having his good friend Steve Tillis of Reptillis Herps, who is vending at the Orlando show today, being her and I could pick her up there. I am going to ask him what all happened.

I agree, a deal is a deal. And this snake has been promised to me for several days now, and to wake up to a random text with him backing out of the deal is complete crap.

We have been texting pretty frequently the last coupe of days so he knows my breeding plans and I was planning on picking up a fire combo male at the show today to pair with her. Luckily I hadn't purchased a fire male yet.

My guess would be he contacted Steve and was told, that price, at this time of year, was too low and decided to keep her for the season. A proven female fire should be going for closer to 1000 at this time of year, as was discussed above. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you but good luck finding something better at the show.

He knew she was worth a lot. He is actually away at college and all of his snakes are scattered among friends. She was loaned to Steve last season to pair with his calico.

I've heard of seller’s remorse before but got to say it's pretty sucky.

Buyers back out of deals all the time. Just this week I had someone hot to buy a snake and I even agreed to discount and then in the middle of talking about shipping options just went to radio silence. Assume he changed his mind or doesn't have the funds but would have been nice to get an e-mail letting me know.

But for some reason I think the sellers should be held to a higher standard. Maybe it's not fair to say they can't change their mind but especially when it's just because they think they can get a better deal it rubs me wrong. Know of a breeder who did that with his first hypos. Found out he underpriced them so told all the lined up buyers they were no longer available and then a little later relisted them for more.

I really haven't followed fire prices and I know any breeder female is considerably more valuable than a hatchling but maybe the breeder will find he can't really get much more out of her after all in the current market (morph saturation and lots of broke people like me, lol).

Breedable fire females aren't hard to sell at $1000+... I've seen a few sell recently, and even picked one up myself. Sounds like he just realized how ridiculously low of a price he agreed to and decided against it. Until money has changed hands nothing is sold... if you come across a crazy deal like that again your best bet is to put a deposit down on it and make sure you've got everything in emails!

So... There is a new revelation!

Apparently Steve bought it from the guy instead. Now, in friends with Steve Tillis on Facebook and saw that he was rehoming most of his ball pythons. He was going to sell them as a package deal and one of the snakes listed was a proven breeder female fire. Of course I become interested in the chance of getting this girl, again.

No one ended up buying the package deal so last night at work I saw that he posted he was going to sell the individual animals! I immediately sent him a message and guess what? IT WAS THE SAME GIRL!
