I watched him dry himself off. I wish bees and wasp didn't sting. They are some really cool little creatures.

Neat looking moth! And the bee is awesome. I kept bees up until this past winter when we lost our last hive.

I have always wanted to do a beehive but I have no yard at all.
Also wanted to keep wasp this year but I have to many projects going on right now.
Maybe one day.

Gorgeous finds. :D btw, that's a Giant Silk Moth. ^_^

Thanks!
The Moth was really weak, thought it was dead. After I saw that she was alive, I placed her in a net cage until I could let her go in a safe place. Or just hold on to her because she couldn't fly.
Before the end of the day she laid about a dozen eggs before she passed.

Sweet, are you gunna try and hatch the moths?
-

Yeah they are in the net cage.
Found a couple of turtles today.

One is in bad shape. Major infection in the eyes and they are full of maggots.
I'll update once we find out more info.

I was looking for a wolf spider. I couldn't find any big ones. I found one smaller one but if he doesn't build a web in the cup i have him in or take a dubia then I'm gunna let him go and keep looking for a bigger one.

I'm not sure if any of the Wolf spiders web up.
We have a ton of ants this year. They have taken over all my spots :(
I have always called those cave crickets.

Sorry about coming a little late to the party on this answer but I just seen this thread. The moth you found is called a polyphemus. The reason it was near dead is they have no mouths in this stage. They eat as caterpillars, pupate inside a cacoon about an inch and a quarter in length. When the emerge they live for about a week to two weeks tops. All the stage is supposed to do is mate, drop eggs, and die. Circle of life Simba.
I used to find them alot when I was a kid. There is another large one I used to find as well called a cecropia. Thanks for sharing all these pics with us.

I have been watching the eggs but nothing has hatched. They might not be fertile.
She was really cool. Thanks for the info.

The wolf spider i found was in a small web, so im assuming they do, but idk lol

I had one that I thought was a Wolf and it turned out to be a grass spider. That thing made awesome webs. She would run around webbing real quick.
Look at this little girl

Well closer inspection of the little turtle, looks like something has chewed her up.
Giving her a Betadine bath and maggots are coming out of her wound.
Update on the other turtle posted a couple a weeks ago. His eyes are looking better but he is blind.
We are in talks at work to build a turtle rehab :)

Re: A place to share
Great thread and pics. :-)
Wish I could see cool stuff as much as you do. I have a creek behind my apartment and all I usually see are fish in the water, the ocasional startled frog, a crane, and gnats. People have reportedly spotted copperheads along the path and I want to see one up close in the wild, take pictures, and temp getting bit by accidentally stepping on it(not necessarily in that order). :D

Poor little thing.

We see a ton of them here at work. This is our 3rd recuse this year.
We are wanting to build an outdoor enclosure for the ones that can't be released. It will also serve as a place for the ones that can go back into the wild.

Came across a nice little eastern worm snake in the back yard today but the little bugger was too quick for a pic :)
That turtle rehab sounds very cool!

One of my favorites is the crayfish with babies. All my years playing in creeks and I have never seen that.
And that spider isn't creepy. :p
