If you zoom out and look at this map, you guys seemed to have made a narrow escape in CT and most of NY.

Someone has died in Toronto because of flying debris! Stay inside!

I also know someone from NYC who says it isn't too bad - YET. The storm is supposed to be at its most intense in the middle of the night there..

I hope everyone and their families can stay safe :(

Reporting from Charleston, WV - my school has been cancelled today due to winter snow conditions! Multiple deaths in WV, NY, etc. Rain and snow and wind is just going crazy here! The grunt of it is hitting here right now, but I know other places have been having it a lot worse and I just hope this isn't like the June 29 derecho, I was without power for 12 days, and Obama did sign for the State of Emergency last night.

One of my good friends has family in NJ and she posted pictures of water about half as high as the street lights! And that's from Long Beach Island down to Atlantic City from my understanding. Rob! Hope you're okay! And anyone else in NJ.

The streets in downtown Manhatten were covered in about 3 ft of water last night too. :/ Doesn't look so bad now on the live shot the weather channel just showed. But dang. :/ And now snow in a lot of places? That is definitely not something we have to deal with in Florida.

We dodged a bullet in Virginia. Most of the damage is in Northern Virginia. Here in Central Virginia, we came through pretty good compared to past hurricanes. Prayers go out to those up north. Looks like they got hit pretty hard.

So far we lost power and a ton of trees came down. Luckily we really didnt get the amount of rain as expected, so flooding in this general area isn't super bad.

Central ohio isn't bad. Some wind, a crazy dusting of snow that lasted about an hour.

My emergency plan is break out the kerosene heaters if it gets really cold, which it hasn't. Otherwise, my old dinosaur of a gas stove does a great job of heating this place. If I lose electricity for any lengthof time the snakes get bagged and put into a "5 day" super-duper cooler with three 2-liters of warm water. I'm going to eventually have to break down and get a generator for their racks, but right now with only ten of them it's not so bad.

Southern NJ here. We made out ok because we're more inland, about 15 minutes outside Philadelphia. We lost power at 7pm last night and got it back at 1pm today. There are a bunch of downed trees and such blocking some roads, but we got off easy compared to the shore. The entire Jersey shore has been decimated by this storm...

I luckily dodged a bullet myself. I'm about 35min northwest of Atlantic city. I feel for everyone on the coast. I was supposed to go out to assist with water rescues today but it got called off for my station. good thing my family sold our wildwood house last summer....

Where in NJ? Sounds like you can't be more than 15-20 minutes from me... Yeah, looking at the pics of the shore, my heart goes out to anyone living in that area. (Wildwood/Cape May)

Thankfully didn't lose power in my neighborhood. Plus I live on the northern side of Long Island which I hear didn't have it as bad as the southern side. Breezy Point, Queens was seriously wrecked . The flooding made it difficult to contain the fire. 80-100 homes burned down :/ My building in Downtown Manhattan is shutdown til the end of the week also. No subway and no LIRR running either as far as I know.

So more like 30-45 minute drive. I'm about 3 miles north of where 295 meets 42 and 76. Maybe we can meet up for the next expo or something...

Well, finally able to check in...still without power in Northwest Jersey, and likely will be for a couple/few days. I can't even begin to express exactly how HUGE having a generator is for me right now.

I'd suggest that anyone with a collection of balls, or really almost any reptiles, get themselves a generator. If you can afford to house/feed/breed hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of snakes, you can surely afford a $500-1,000 generator.Never know what's going to happen when, and far better safe than sorry .

I could agree more! I'm so glad I have a generator. I really have it for my collection and to run my exhaust fan for my rats. I'm not so worried about me and other things, but my collection is most important.

As an update S.E. PA is really spotty with power outages, and I'm one of the spots. Other than no power and no work to do without power we are fairing pretty well, only had one 35' tree come down on my property.

I was just watching the weather and it appears the Northeast may get nailed by a potentially powerful Nor'easter by the middle of next week...more rain, high wind, and coastal flooding:(.
