Books were great, but the movie was not bad come on! I think the did a pretty good job with it. And to top it off katniss is all kinds of hot!

I loved the Stand too, have you read 'Salems Lot? Its a "vampire book" but its so well written, like all of his books, that it doesnt feel that way. Its probably my favorite King book.

No way, i eat that stuff up. I pretty much fall asleep reading it every nite and then dream of robot schematics. :D
In all seriousness though, as i got older i started disliking fantasy more and more. I still like fiction but it has to be realistic fiction or realistic sci fi if its set in the future. By realistic fiction i mean the Scarpetta novels or like most of Stephen Kings and Michael Crichtons stuff. I really have got to start reading again lol...

Re: Who is a reader?
Quite a few years back I read a bunch of Stephen King books. They were good. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the super fantasy stuff, seems kinda hard to get into some of it.

Some one knows that BR exists? :O The BR movie is one of my favorites, the sequel.... not so much

Yep :D
Gena Showalters "lords of the underworld" is amazing. I can never put her books down
-
I used to read a lot more, but now I don't have time for it but I in the school year of 2011-2012 I read The Hunger Games series and The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. If you liked the Hunger Games, you'll like the Maze Runner series.
-
Semi-obscure awesome stuff:
1) James White's Sector General series. It's like 'House" without the hatred, drugs, and sarcasm, and with a lot more aliens.
2) Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin. Amazing prose. Deserved a ton more attention than it got. “The shelf was filled with books that were hard to read, that could devastate and remake one's soul, and that, when they were finished, had a kick like a mule.”
3) The Dracula Tapes by Fred Saberhagen (For the vamp fans--screamingly funny take on the Dracula story).
Did anyone else notice that Twilight is like a castrated version of Underworld?

I both liked and was disappointed by that one. A lot of the stories seemed as though they got cut off just as they were getting really interesting, and the writing isn't exactly amazing. That said, it still managed to hold my interest, so the underlying idea and story must be good. :)

Yeah it's alright so far. Some things seem overly cliche or forced, but like you said good enough to keep reading.

I started reading that book but couldnt get into it because of how it was written. I found it really weird and didnt really care for it.
ANyone have any other good zombie books though? I wish stephen King would write a zombie book!

Aw, no mentions of the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jaqueline Carey? I've re-read the base trilogy at least 3 times since I discovered the books a few years ago. Especially all those of you touting the 50 shades of Grey books - try adding semi-historic fantasy and high court intrigue and politics, along with wars and spies, and thats a decent picture of what these books are like.
Anne McCaffrey, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman (Good Omens, anyone?), old Anne Rice, the Wicked books (Wicked, Son of a Witch, A Lion amongst Men), Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, I could list writers for a long loooong time :D
-
I love all the books By Sophie Kinsella whose real name is Madeleine Wickham, she is more popular by being Sophie Kinsella and long before she gets more famous for writting the book "Confessions of a Shopaholic" here are some of the books she also written and these are all worth reading.
Sleeping Arrangements
The Wedding Girl
Cocktails for Three
The Gatecrasher
Swimming Pool Sunday
A Desirable Residence
Note: If you'll try to look and buy for these books, the name she used is her real name so the books are all by Madeleine Wickham

Re: Who is a reader?
If you wanna read a book that will blow your mind, "The Gnostic Gospels". Depending on what kind of reading material you are in to.

Non Fiction. Its about scriptures written before the Bible, that the Catholic Church removed and chose not to include. Due to there being many more prophets before Jesus and that most of his spoken word along with others was twisted to fit there liking. Basically, God is really in all of us and inner peace and prayer is for your soul, and not to please an entity that doesnt exsist.
^NOTE^
These are not my personal beleifs, nor am i bashing religion in any way. This is simply an explanation about a book i have read.
I find it "mind blowing" because i enjoy studying other cultures belief systems. I find it interesting how there are so many stories and information about them to be learned. Pros and Cons.

I have heard good and bad about it. Most good, but some say it's poorly written?

Me! Pick me! We have 2 Kindles in our house as well as bookcases everywhere. Currently I'm reading How Children Learn by John Holt. I homeschool my children.

I've been noticing a lot of the issues have been due to the original story being based off of twilight. I guess it was a fanfiction that was kicked off the website for being too dirty.
Although twilight was the last thing on my mind whilst reading.
And yea, I cried at the ending. Must pick up the next book lol

Just wait till you read the other two! I have never seen twilight, so maybe that helped. Didn't ever have an interest in that.

Convince your wife to read it. I dont think youll dislike the book anymore after that...
Youre welcome. ;)

I'm a big George Orwell fan. Ray Bradbury, F. Scott Fitzgerald, J.D. Salinger, Victor Hugo, Charles ****ens. Pretty much everything they make you read in school. I just love the classics. :D
I also really like books by John Green (he is a young adult novelist). You don't see too many serious fiction novels aimed at teenagers these days.

Anyone into star wars or zombie horror for that matter should pick up these two. They were phenomenal! Read red harvest first it's a prequel to death troopers.

So, with everyone talking about it, I decided to look into 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. I checked Amazon. After reading the review, I was laughing out loud, and also felt I had read all that I need to of the book....
(The reviews are truly hilarious).

Recently, I've been completely hooked on the Song of Ice and Fire books by George RR Martin. Considering the series weighs in at about 5.5k pages so far, I've been busy with it for a little while but I have finally begun Dance with Dragons!
Before losing my life and soul to George RR Martin, I recently read People of the Book which was a masterpiece and Hue and Cry, a medieval murder mystery.
-
Started reading it.....can't do it! Going back to some star wars.

Just a few pages, eh I'm not really in the mood for a love story right now either. I got enough from the hunger games.
Now comic books count too right. For anyone wanting to get into DC's new 52, I highly recommend it. They did a amazing job with it. You can also now pick up the first set's in hard cover. I chose to go with Batman the court of owls, and Justice league. JL's art is amazing!
