I just love how there are people on a snake forum with animal phobias that won't even consider being near their phobic fauna.

    There's just one word: Irony.

I'm terrified of spiders, but am considering getting a tarantula. Best way to fight your fear is to just jump right in :) haha

I am deathly afraid of heights, airplanes, rollercoasters, and spiders! I love tarantulas though.

I have a mild uneasiness about Spiders.

The big ones aren't so bad because I can keep track of them. It's those little quick buggers that one moment they are there and the other they are gone. Next thing you know I am all itchy and almost positive I have a spider in my shirt or climbing up my leg... ugh....

Just yesterday I was doing some gardening, trimming my boxwood to be exact and I guess there was a colony of spiders living in it (do they call it a colony of spiders???). They were these tiny little green spiders with white bodies, I picked about 15 of them off my arms and I itched for HOURS!

Some of these are epic. Cotton balls?! WOOOOOW

CHICKENS? they are kind of scary. I recently came across this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEyk63UaBI4

I have had phobias for a lot of things but find myself facing them one at a time. I'm still really weird about brushing my teeth. I gag and choke before I even put it in my mouth (that's what she said)). It's very bizarre and terribly inconvenient. I also have a thing about touching eyeballs or the area under eyelids. If you flip your eyelids inside out around me, there's high likelihood I'm going to punch you in the teeth. I don't like it at all.

I am deathly terrified of spiders. A wolf spider came running out at me one night and I launched onto the couch and squealed for help for 30 minutes. (It disn't go away...just sat there staring at me with its legs raised like a funnel web....nasty thing). Doesn't matter how big it is though, I start shaking and freak out. When I walk by tarantulas at the zoo or something, I cringe and gag and stay a good few feet away. Usually. Some days are better than others. That goes for scorpions as well.

I am terrified of heights, or more appropriately, falling. I love looking down from an airplane or other heights, I just don't enjoy being that high as I am afraid to fall.

The dark freaks me out...probably largely due to my father leaving me alone in the woods at night, standing in 6 inches of water, with nothing but a rifle while he went ahead to scout the way. :O

When at the beach swimming to the sandbar, I hate crossing over that dark deep area where you can see nothing but the darkness and know there must be SOMETHING down there. Silly, since I have made that swim hundreds of times, but it still nags at me when I get to that area and I always speed up there. Lol.

Burglary and house fires also freak me out. I check locks repeatedly before I can go to sleep and have to check all heating elements daily for anything strange.

I love horses, but chickens are a legitimate thing to be concerned about. I was pecked in the eye by a chicken once. Nasty little buggers. They don't scare me, but after growing up with them, I don't like them much. :P

I have a couple fears, but only one I have a hard time managing. I fear "real" ghosts. I am afraid of dying alone, not dying though. And the only one I absolutely have a hard time with is heights/falling. Can't go near windows in tall buildings can't ride ferris wheels, try to find alternate routes when driving to avoid bridges; I'm so afraid of heights I fear for other people being near these things.

I HATE hard boiled eggs too, and obviously egg salad/deviled eggs. Aaron your gf is a smart cookie, theyre disgusting and need to be avoided. I can eat ANY other type of egg, scrambled, fried, poached, whatever, but hard boiled eggs just gross me out. I think its mainly due to the smell but idk for sure.

You know phobias aren't always logical, right?

Everyone laughs at that poor Cotton Ball lady on Maury. Except me. Why?

    I. hate. Cotton. Balls.

I hate touching them. I hate having to open up a new pill bottle to find a cotton ball, because I don't want to touch it. I hate the sound cotton makes when you squeeze and roll it between your fingers. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. Even some dish clothes have that same 'dry' feeling that cotton balls have.

It's not so much a 'fear' as it is an 'I can't stand it'. It really is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Everyone laughes, obviously, haha. I hate picking up dry dish rags sometimes, because some have that same kind of feeling. Like those blue dish clothes when they've been used too many times and get kind of 'frizzy'.

Then again, while we're camping, I'll go and pick up the spider that everyone is screaming about on the picnic table. I'll go and shoo the occasional frog off the porch. Catch a neat bettle. Pick up creepy crawlies. Go and take close-ups of bees as they're hovering around the crab apple tree.

So, we all have our quirks. Some just make less sense than others. I obviously don't scream about cotton balls being near me, but if you asked me to pick up a handful and squeeze them, I'd probably very much dislike that idea :rolleye2:

Well that was a little strong of a comment i guess lol. I would touch one, just not on the head. But if i go to rub their butts or back then ill get kicked by them! Its a lose lose situation either way.

I'm riding down the aisle on my horse in 30 days if that tells you anything about how horse crazy I am, lol. About the smart thing, they are smart in their own way, but I will admit they do some pretty dumb things. Twice we have had to step in to save my mare's life, the first time was when she fractured her skull in 3 places, and the second was when we had to pull her out of the creek with a tractor.

I told my fiance that my one stipulation for our wedding was that my horse could be present if not directly involved. I would like to ride my horse down the isle though. I adore him. <3

Horses, wolves and snakes are my favorite animals. :P

But yes, I agree. They are smart, but are limited in their knowledge. They are kind of like toddlers. However, when it comes to getting someone off, if they wanted them off, they'd be off. lol. I know this from experience.

June Bugs!!! Those things are the worst!! I used to have super long hair and their creepy, pokey little legs will get stuck and they seem to dive bomb right at your head. I once dropped a whole case of water because one got to close and I fell down my porch steps trying to escape one last month!

Oh and getting my Achilles tendon slit is my absolute worst fear ever! My fiance will drag his thumb across the back of my ankle and it makes me so weak in the knees I can't stand anymore. Thinking about it will bring me to tears or cause me to have a serious anxiety attack!!!!!

in all seriousness i was staying at a hotel the night before tough mudder VT, here I am about to get hit with 10k volts run 10miles up and down a mountain so on and so on, but when i got to lay down in bed i touch one of those blankets and flip and jump out of bed like i was in the electric chair. My GF was like WTF?? and i told her and she laughed at me to no end. I official handed over a man card for that one.

Ok so your post reminded me of something else i dont like. Not achilles tendon but the tendons behind your knee. If people touch the back of my knees i will flip out. They laugh and think im ticklish but its really not that at all. My friend thought it was funny and tried to do it twice in a row after i told her not to and i picked her up and threw her into a pool. She was pissed and said i over reacted but i really dont like anyone going near there lol. I dont really like knee injuries in general either but i can handle them ok. Im always paranoid about having people touch/chop the back of my knee. And now that i think about having my achilles tendon cut that kinda freaks me out too lol. Ive rolled my ankles a few times pretty badly though so ankle injuries dont bother me nearly as bad.

I honestly have no clue what you said other than you jumped out of bed when you realized that the blanket was fleece.

I'm surprised june bugs are a common phobia. Seems like a lot of people here are freaked out by them. They are definitely annoying with their clumsiness and dive bombing. Can't say they freak me out, though. I just laugh at them when their failed dive bombings end with them spazzing out on their backs trying to right themselves.

Spiders for me! I work in the yard all the time and every time I see a black widow I get the hebee jeebies so bad I call it a day.

I love freediving but in fresh water the clarity isn't all that good. I get creeped out when I get down to 50 feet. The temperature drops drastically, visibility goes dark, and there's no bottom in sight.

Spiders, anything over a quarter of an inch... ewwwww. Any itch I get during the rest of day I think is a spider crawling on me :(

Underwater plants/objects (clear or murky water) while I'm swimming/wakeboarding/tubing, I will literally curl up into a ball and float in my life jacket so as not to touch them. Seriously freaks me out...

    Fear of falling/heights

I don't like/avoid slugs and snails (at least touching anything but shell)

Jello- I can't eat it, makes me gag, super gross texture

Bird beaks... just plain wierds me out

    Ants.

I am deathly afraid of ants and I have this vision of them swarming all over me and I can't stop them. Also, roaches. I woke up to one rift near my head the other night. Creepy!

Horses for me, I live in the country and my neighbors have horses, as long as they are behind the fence I can go outside.

I absolutely hate oceans and stuff that comes from oceans, especially the really deep and dark bits, and MOST ESPECIALLY whales :(

I also am afraid of most insects...my rule is, if it has more than four legs keep it the heck away from me!!
